My real interest is,
Is there a noticeable performance difference to justify the cost?:p

Looks clean though!
I'm really trying to find a mod thats a single copper tube, with a recessed button that can stand right-up unlocked. Clones for me of course.
Can you think of/suggest any?

There really is a difference... Mainly in the craftsmanship and quality control. I have several clones (mods and attys) and some of them perform outstanding. Some work great for a while and start to peter out over time. As far as a single tube copper clone goes... I'm at a loss. Not really sure which way to steer you because I haven't tried many. The 4Nine is pretty slick, but I'm not sure that it was single tube. My Copper Black and Red Copper Stingrays are fantastic clones!

GP PAPS clone, less than $30 from FT. Might not have a copper but brass for sure.

Consistency is probably the biggest difference. There are some cloners that get that right more often than not, but even at that sometimes they dont come out right. However, that is not to say the authentic mods are batting 1000 all the time either.

IME clones are typically weaker in their firing mechanism. Lousy springs or magnets or need some TLC to work their best.

Sadly, despite mechs operating on the most fundamentally simple electric circuit known to man, most people (even here) dont truly understand how they work or dont have the mechanical inclination to get them running tip top, which is one of the biggest reasons people run into issues with them. Of course if you consider the ratio as to which clones are sold vs authentic, it is not shocking either way.
