Hi All,

This is my first day of vaping, and I hate to say I feel terrible after vaping for few hours :(

I purchased vapin kayser 900mAh starter kit, and used hangsen juice with 12mg nic. I got few questions to ask you peoples.

To heat up the coil I pressed the button for 2 secs before taking a puff, and inhaled the vapor very slowly (like they mentioned in other threads).

1. Im hearing a little gurgling/crackling sound whenever I'm pressing the button, is this normal?
2. When I tried to inhale, vapor is hitting my throat very very very strong. I'm just coughing all the time I tried to inhale. And Im really feeling sick and difficult in breating while I vape. is it normal in the starter kit?
3. I dont knw what is the level of nicotine content in the normal cig I smoke. And I smoke nearly 10-12 cigs per day. I'm just wondering whether the e-liquid I got (12mg nic) is too strong for me. Just want to know how much nic content i should use?

Please let me know your thoughts/suggestions

Thanks in advance!

Hi All,

What kind of terrible. Dizzy, nauseous? You are probably absorbing too much nicotine without realizing it. Vaping is more efficient in regards to nicotine uptake as you aren't inhaling a bunch of other chemicals and CO/CO2. Slow down a bit. It won't feel as satisfying as a cig, especially the first few days.

You generally don't need to do this. I think some of your problem stems from this fact and that you might be inhaling too slowly. The more air you get mixed with the vapor the cooler and lighter the vape will be. Most importantly let off the button before you finish drawing and clear the chamber of the clearomizer of vapor. Leaving vapor in there will produce condensation which can lead to an off flavor or smell (bacterial growth) over time.

1. Im hearing a little gurgling/crackling sound whenever I'm pressing the button, is this normal?
Yes this is the liquid in the wick and on the coil being heated and vaporizing. You'll come to love the sound.

2. When I tried to inhale, vapor is hitting my throat very very very strong. I'm just coughing all the time I tried to inhale. And Im really feeling sick and difficult in breating while I vape. is it normal in the starter kit?
Are you inhaling mouth to lung or trying to inhale directly into your lungs? Try holding it in your mouth (sucking on the ecig like a straw) for a couple seconds then inhaling it. Most people smoke cigarettes mouth to lung, but you could be one of the rare exceptions. Also, your vape needs very little to no start up time hit the button once you start inhaling or maybe half to a quarter second before. This seems to be one of the hardest things for friends of mine who I've let try my vape to understand and as a result I get a lot of "ewww it's so harsh!".

12mg seems about right for someone who smokes half a pack a day, but if you're chain vaping or smoked cigarettes lower in nicotine it may be too high.
I know this sounds silly but are you sure you were inhaling the cigarettes or smoking them more like a cigar? I've seen people smoke analogs who end up inhaling maybe 10% of each drag as they let it sit in their mouth and end up exhaling/pushing most of it out with their tongue before inhaling. Maybe try something lower what's the harm?

Please let me know your thoughts/suggestions
Don't give up! Be sure to be periodically tipping and rolling your tank on its side as the one that appears to come with your starting kit has a wick that leads to the coil that is on top. Dry hits are terrible and very harsh.

Yes the crackling sound is normal. Try taking the vapor into your mouth before inhaling it that should help with the coughing and throat irritation. You also might want to try a higher Vegetable Glycerin (VG) level. Vg tends to be easier on the throat.

12 mg nic seems about right considering your former smoking amount. I was a pack a day smoker and I started at 18mg. Down to 12 now 6 on my dripper.

Enjoy and don't lose heart. It gets better I promise.

All these points mentioned above are great, I 2nd the possibility of ur nic lvl might be too high, nic can be harsh in some /most juices to me. I quickly went to 6mg and vape a bit more often. I find the flavor much better and it's much less harsh to me. Also try experimenting with different juices.

Good luck, stick with it, it works!

OK. Nice suggestion! I haven't heard of this before.

No I'm not a rare exception here :). I do inhale to mouth 1st and then to lungs. But as I said I pressed the button few secs before inhaling may be that is the reasons why I got strong hits. And normally I'll inhale 100% smoke to lungs will not release any!

Thank you! The agent from whom I purchased also said the same and I'm doing this regularly.

Im going to test this for another 2 days and if I still feel the same I'll consider to lower the nicotene content.

Thanks Hill!
I'm from India and here we don't have much choices on e-cigs and its accessories. Juice is also one of them, we are having very fewer brands.

So just thinking to give a try for 2 more days!

Yes I'm feeling dizzy & nauseous each time I tried.

This is the classic signs of too much nicotine.

How many puffs at a time are you taking? Are you continuously vaping on it for many minutes at a time or just a few puffs and then waiting 30+ minutes?

Maybe try and find some vegetable glycerin to add and thus lower the strength of the liquid you already have as you said eliquid is pretty limited in India. Adding VG may not be advisable with the cheap clearomizer that came with your starter kit as it tends to not wick as well. Otherwise, 6mg would be the next step down for most liquid manufactures and should help not making you dizzy/sick feeling.

OK!. I'll smoke normal cigs every hour (15 or 16 puffs), and this is how I would like to vape too.. but what happened when tried to vape is,

took nearly 4-5 puffs and I coughed really bad. So just left that and switched to normal cigs. Tried the same for almost 6 times today and ended up with normal ones. :(

Maybe I should give a try to 6mg before deciding other alternatives.
Thanks for your suggestions!!

I also have that coughing problem, and it has been a hindrance in my attempt to switch entirely from smoking to vaping. However, I am convinced that the coughing is caused by the cigarettes, but only presents during vaping. I have noticed that the level of coughing I experience during vaping seems to rise and fall with the number of cigarettes I have also smoked during the day.

Please do! You will feel so much better after a few weeks of vaping. I haven't had as much as a stuffy nose since I started. I used to almost always wake up with a cough and stuffy nose but not any more. I can also tell my circulation is loads better. I can feel my feet more and my hands don't get cold while typing like they used to.

I don't know why it's so harsh for some people. IMO vaping is much much smoother than a cigarette. I'm beginning to suspect the juice you have more and more. What exact juice is it?

Vaping is different from smoking, it will take your body a bit of time to adjust.

Make sure you drink plenty of water. Coffee is not water, tea is not water, soda is not water. Vaping is dehydrating. Unfortunaly nic sickness has similar symptoms to dehydration, so it is hard to tell which is causing the symptoms initially, but it is quite easy to drink water while you vape and eliminate that possibility.

Most importantly don't give up! Some people are sensitive to PG, and that may be a factor too. Hangsen liquids tend to be on the high PG side.

While think your suggestions are great, I'm curious as to where you got this information?

Research I've looked at in the past indicated that vaping was not as as efficient in nicotine delivery as an analog resulting in needing to vape longer. If I recall it had to do with a vapor particle being physically larger than a smoke particle and therefore being more difficult to get in the "tiny cracks and crevices" i.e. the alveoli of the lungs.

I think a difficulty to adapt to is that an analog cig is essentially a timer that's simple to gauge. It's discrete--got a beginning and end.
Vaping is a batch. You've got a tank full of liquid and a power source.
Your body should tell you when you've had enough and like you said dizziness, nausea, headaches are typically signs of that.

Yes, dont give up. It took me several days to start getting used to vaping. Your body has to adjust and you cant think of it as smoking.

Also, getting the right equipment for you helps. Took me a while to find a setup that I really enjoy. I was recommended an ego battery and kanger t3s from the great people on here for a starter kit. Cheap and that is what got me started vaping. Try different flavors of juice too. Tons of flavors out there.
