Ok, I thought this would be a cool topic to hear folks talk about.

Mine has been good so far... I mixed up some Cherry juice at 18% nic and am going to try a Cherry Vanilla at the same percentage later today (may even drop it to 12% or less). It came out bright red and smells and tastes fantastic. The vape cloud is super thick and TH is better than I expected. I think I'm going to really dig this DIY thing!

What's your experience?

Can you tell me what exactly you used and did. I am interested in trying DIY but really have no idea where to start. I get all little overwhelmed in reading everything but I am good a mixing stuff.
I got all my flavors from TPA, I got my PG and VG from ecigexpress. I got my nicotine from RTS Vapes. I got some debridged atty for tasting from freedomsmokeusa.

Were all these sites the cheapest? No idea. Are all these products the best? Still no idea. Am I happy with my purchases? Yes...

My attempts at diy have not been terribly successful thus far. I started out trying to fix "bought juices" that I didn't care for. That didn't work out too well.

After tons of reading and reading and reading, I figured I was going way to heavy on the flavor. So I waited for nic to arrive to begin anew. Got my nic, got tons of flavors tried many recipes....they still don't do it for me. I think I am going to need to about halve the flavoring I find in most recipes.

So far the one recipe I have found success with and made repeatedly is caramel cappuccino. Interestingly, I took all the little 3 ml bottles of my failed attempts and combined them into a big glass decanters-then I cut them with pg/vg by 3/4. I actually made 2 bottles. 1 for coffee, candy, bakery attempts and the other for fruit and tobacco attempts. Shockingly-they taste pretty damn good. So by the time I'm down to vaping 4mg nic, I'll have a HUGE stash of juice waiting for me.

This weekend I'll probably jump back in and try again, but for now I'm content to vape my caramel cap and not stress about it.

lol. Glad to hear it worked for you.

I don't remember my 1st DIY very well... but .... I do know cherry is a hard flavor to get right since most of the cherry flavorings taste like cough syrup (which could be good if you like cough syrup). lol.

I have had some of Beans' "puked on dirty feet" juice too.... lol. I think she must have been trying to get rid of it and snuck in and swapped it out when I wasn't looking.

Mostly though, I'd say I'm in the upper 90% of success with DIY. I think that my keeping it simple is best. Like the vanilla tobacco I'm vaping right now. Easy. Good. Simple. The more complex the recipe (for me) the more of a PITA it is. Let the flavor vendors work most of it out....then tweak it.

I'm still steeping my first and only DIY juice. I'm hoping in a few years the flavor will change enough so that it is even vapable!
I got about 6 bottles sitting on my counter right now. This post made me decide to try them out. A couple are actually pretty good now. They've definitely darkened since I first made them. Some still have that harshness to them, but the flavor is better. I made another juice today. Strawberry banana waffle.. Strong in the fruit flavor.. Can't taste the waffle at all. Gonna make another batch tonight with less fruit and more waffle and see what happens. I'm hoping for the best.

Good luck! I think I'm just going to continue to order my juices. I don't don't work on my own car, I let the mechanic do it. I have a tendency screw things up when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I started out doing DIY so I could save money and do my own thing..I also ordered a ton of flavors from pa and I recall the watermelon as posted above, that is some strong stuff and also was one of my first mixes along with their ripe banana which I love with my tobacco juices now.

My advice is do your homework on the DIY part of these forums they help tons, and some flavors can be SUPER powerful so ya really have to be carefull or your juice will be ruined and possibly your atty =p
It's totally worth it though, it's fun and you can save a ton of money once ya get set up.

I accidentally committed myself to this. I've invested a lot of money. I have found a juice from a vendor that I am in love with and ordered 30ml so won't order anything other than that until I figure this DIY thing out.

You might want to try to sweeten your juices with 1 to 2 drops of diluted Ethyl Maltol per 5ml. Ethyl Maltol is a sweetener and will take that sharp edge off the tobacco flavors. It also really helps in reducing the harshness. Flavorings are usually just that, flavor without any sweetener. So you might mix up a fruit flavor and it will taste like the fruit, but it will be missing that sweetness that real fruit has.

Good luck!

Thanks. I have a sweetner from TPA, but haven't made any tobacco flavored juices. With some of the juices, I added a drop or two and didn't notice any change in harshness. I believe the harshness comes from the PG. At a 60/40 PG/VG ratio, there is no harshness. I keep thinking of getting Vape Wizard but don't want to buy a product that doesn't solve my problem.

Are you letting your juices steep for a week?

Awesome comments so far! Sounds like a few of you are really getting into the craft. I hope I can make different flavors sing on my tongue as well as the first one (doubt it but I'm-a-gonna' try)...

All I did was use the calculator located at: http://www.ecigexpress.com/ejuice-calculator.php

I mixed 48mg juice with naked PG and LorAnn Cherry flavor from One Stop DIY Shop and mixed it up until the color was uniform. Dripped it into my kissbox to test and then loaded up a tank in the eGo. Been vaping it all day (I'm on tank two and fixin' to mix another).

<<snicker>> So what if I like cough medicine... :) My tastebuds may be wrecked, who knows. I'll post back after the Cherry Vanilla is done and vaped.

I know what it smells like when someone takes their shoes off and that Fritos smell wafts up and kicks your nostrils... I can't imagine vaping that smell!!! Hopefully it won't happen to me any time soon!

Bavarian cream from TPA works wonders for making harsh tobacco flavors mellow out some and also gives them richness

Keep great notes!!!

One more time.
Write down everything you do.

Some flavors are perfect at 5%
Some need 20%

Get a recipe card box and a pack of index cards (and some of those stick on dividers you can write on. You'll need them after you've made a dozen or so flavors or all your DIY time will be taken up with finding the right card in your stack)

And most important; have fun!

This really is some great advice. Take notes and keep them organized. Sometimes it takes a while to get a recipe just right and you don't want to have to go through the process all over again because you didn't keep good notes.
