First experience with Clearomizers not so good.

I got tired of the inconsistent hits I was receiving from refilling my V4L cartomizers, so I ventured out into the Clearomizer world. I was looking to buy some CE3s, but it seemed like every website I checked was sold out of them. Ultimately I settled on a pack of 808D Mini tank Atomizers and a pack of M3 Clearomizers from Moutain Vapor. In no way, shape, or form am I trying to bash Mountain Vapor. Their service was impeccable. However I am less than pleased with the flavor I am receiving from the Clearomizers; the mini atomizers I can't seem to get to work at all. The flavor seems to be off in some way, and a little bit muted. I was warned about clearomizers muting flavor by another poster, but I went ahead and bought the previously mentioned ones anyway. I do love the hit the M3s give me. A lot of vapor, every time, almost too much to be honest.

Is there a clearomizer out there that does not mute the flavor, or make it taste a little off? Currently I only have the standard 808D batts, but I would be willing to go with something like an X2 batt from SI, if I knew the Clearomizer gave me as good of a taste as a cartomizer. Or, do all Clearomizers change the flavor?

Thanks.

fatcharlie, I am not familiar with those clearos that you are using, but it's been my experience that many devices ship with shipping/antibacterial fluids. That is the reason many will say that "They need a break in period", which is not true if cleaned prior to use. If not cleaned prior to use, then you will need to vape 1 or 2 fill-ups to get the shipping fluids out of the device.

Nothing mutes flavor like cartos do for me as I just tested this with a boge carto; a CE2 & CE4+ top coil and a CE3 bottom coil device all filled with the same juice.
First, I would test your juice using a clean atty, then compare the flavor to your other devices to see if any parts are getting muted.

Your M3 device was discussed somewhere in the 808 clearomizer thread ....here. There are a lot of post, many of which you may find helpful.
Personally, I find that CE3's work best for me and most vendors have them in stock again.

Good luck in your hunt.

Thanks Skelly. I talked with Dennis at Moutain Vapor and he recommended letting them soak overnight with Vodka, then do a dry burn. I don't have any Vodka laying around, only Samuel Adams. Is there another non-alcoholic liquid I can use instead? I did sorta try rinsing one out with water for about 20 seconds, but I was unsure how long to dry burn it for. I think I did about 7 or 8 dry burns. Still, it made no difference. I really do want these M3s to work because they fit very well on my standard 808 batteries, and the consistency of hit is phenomenal.

A hot water rinse will work also.
I use PGA / vodka or moonshine in my ultrasonic cleaner if I'm going to change flavors.

When I dry burn, I like to see the coil. I dry burn until there is no vapor or the coil starts to glow red.
I then burn in 3-5 sec. pulses (then let the coil cool for 5 sec.); repeat this process until the coil will glow red fairly quickly without any vapor.

I think cool_breeze used them in that 808 thread. You may want to drop him a PM and ask if there are any adjustments that you might be able to make or you can ask in the thread. Many helpful and knowledgeable folks in there that will give it to you straight.

Yeah, I can't say that I ever saw the coil glow red, so maybe I didn't do it long enough. At the same time I didn't see any vapor either. I didn't want to do too many dry burns for fear of damaging the coil.

When you do a rinse do you avoid the center tube like you're filling it with juice or does it not matter on a rinse. I avoided the center tube for my rinse, though I did shake it for a bit.

I put the entire clearo under the facet with hot water, just make sure it's blown out and dry before placing on a battery.
Fill it up; shake; dump and repeat a few more times.
Blow out and either towel dry overnight or start the dry burn process.

When the coil has some mileage on it, the juice will eventually cause a ball of crud on the coil. Dry burning will make the coil hard and brittle. If you can, I like to gently bust the coil up with dental/toothpicks and blow out the chunks. This will help bring the coil back to life in terms of flavor/vapor....something to think about down the road.
