Been using Spinner batteries for a month and a half and decided to buy an Innokin MVP 3 Pro with a Kanger Subtank Mini.
I primed the .5 ohm coil with 4 drops as instructed and waited about a minute before I hit the fire button. I set the mod at 20 watts. All I got was a harsh tasting, kinda hot vape on my tongue and throat. I was using Cosmic Fog Church liquid, 3 nicotine level, and tasted nothing of it. I know Church has a very sweet taste, but got none of it.
Very disappointed with this. Did I do anything wrong, you think?

hi Mark. When I prime my Subtank Mini's I also add a drop to the sides of the coil head where the cotton shows. One on each side. Then I usually take a few draws without power covering the air holes to draw suction through the wick. Because I have a few of the tanks I usually let mine sit 5 to 10 minutes, though I don't know what the normal is for everyone else. New coils/cotton do have a dry taste to them for a few hits. If you've burnt the coil the only thing you can do is change it out (and probably the juice that was in the tank will need replaced as sometimes the burnt taste will leech into it). Good luck.

You didn't do anything wrong, I found that same when I tried the SubTank. It's way hotter of a vape than I like and I've been rebuilding and using drippers for some time now.

Unfortunately, everyone raves about it and recommends it to people who are more familiar with the types of vapes that you are used to, at least you didn't use it with the higher nic liquids that you are used to.

Try using it with the 1.2 ohm coil and a longer, narrow bore drip tip at the smallest air setting and then work your way up from there...

+1. This is why I prefer the Atlantis. It gives a much cooler vape, even with the new 0.3 ohm coils. The coil and the bottom of the tank will get hot, but the vape will still be cool.

Even at 25 watts on a subtank mini I never got a vape that was that hot. What airhole do you have it set on? I do more than 4 drops and let it sit a minute. I saturate the coil then take dry pulls with the airholes covered to get it wicked good before I vape it. I can't speak for the juice specifically though.

I tried all the air hole combinations. Still got the same result. I'll be switching the coil to the 1.2 later on.

Didn't try the 1.2 yet. My next question is with the 1.2 Ohm coil, will I still be able to vape the juices that have a higher VG content? It's probably one of the main reasons I bought a box mod.

Yes, there is no reason you can't vape max VG with a 1.2 or even 2ohm+ build.

A lot of people choose max VG when they want to produce clouds, and this often means going with a subohm coil, but you can vape any juice at any ohms.

Not good. I changed to the 1.2 Ohm coil. I primed the center and the sides. I let it sit for 10 minutes. At 4 volts I hit the button and it was spitting and popping, and when it wasn't spitting and popping, still too warm for my taste. I did buy two tanks, so I'll try the other one tomorrow and stay with my Spinner for tonight. Thanks for all the help, folks. Really appreciate it.

Yeah, still not good. It's just too warm for me especially coming from Spinners and EVOD 2 tanks.

Okay, tried the other Subtank Mini tank I bought with a 1.2 coil inside and it seems to be okay. I'm a mouth hitter, not a lung hitter, so it seems to be working okay. The 3 nic level of the Church juice hits much warmer than the 12 nic level of the 50/50 juices I use with my EVOD 2 tank/Spinner battery combo.

The mod seems to be fickle, though. EVOD 2 tanks that work great on my Spinner batteries come up with a "Check Atomizer" message on the MVP 3 mod. Could be the 510/EGO adapter?

When you vape, do you do mouth to lung hits? Or do you do direct to lung hits? When I first got my first Subtank Mini, I was a mouth to lung hitter and I was coming from a Nautilus Mini and I absolutely HATED the Subtank Mini. It was always too warm, and whenever I tried to lower the wattage it would pop like crazy and spit juice at me. I found that with the Subtank, you need to run it no lower than 15 watts. At 15 watts, the popping disappears and you get the distinct sizzle of vaporizing juice.

I cleaned out the Subtank and put it away. I went back to using the Nautilus Mini and after about a month or so, I got more used to doing lung hits. I decided to try the Subtank again. Doing lung hits with the airflow wide open, it was a vastly different experience. The vape is still a bit warm, but not hot where it was unbearable. Since then I've been using both Subtank Minis and Atlantises.
