The mini has an airflow adustment ring. If youre experiencing spitting that usually means youre pulling too hard or there is too much juicein the wick and the coil is flooded. More air into the chamber will usually cause less spitting. Play with the airflow adjustment and see how it works for you.
The sensation you get onvyour tongue is hot hot ejuice landing and burning your tongue

Get a bottle of VG from your local drug store, and add a bit of that to your liquid (you can just mix it in the nautilus tank with a good shaking). This will up the VG content and cut the nicotine levels, and should provide a smoother vape (it will also cut the flavor, but hey...). If that works for you, it will give you a better idea of what liquid to order for the next go-around.

A small bottle of VG is only about $3.50 at CVS.

Try upping the vg and definitely lower the nic level. I assure you this will make it much smoother. I'd you don't feel like you're getting the nic you need after lowering, just vape a little more often, I can't vape high nic juice for this reason, too harsh. Some people handle high nic better than others. You can mix low nic with high nic juice to make use of the stuff you already have. And like others have said, some straight vg drop cvs or Walmart will smooth it out as well. Just add some to your juice a little at a time until you like it.

Good luck!

This makes the most sense!

Just an update... it really was just a matter of getting used to it, and maybe partially my throat healing from smoking so many cigarettes for so long. I'm vaping the same juice at about 8W now, producing fine vapor. Still going to go down to 50/50 on my next eliquid order, but my tolerance for the 70/30 really improved after a day or two.

Thanks for the responses guys, second day without a cigarette with many more to come.

Man, 4.7v is the lowest setting on that thing? I smoke full flavored cigs 1+ packs a day, and I have found that 18mg on 3.8v gives me a great hit. I don't have to hit it super hard, and it gives me a nice satisfying hit. I using a Marlboro clone flavor from Next Vapor. I have read some studies saying that using higher voltages 4,0+ release more carbonyls in the vapor, making them much more dangerous. Not as dangerous as cigs, but more dangerous than lower voltage draws.

The popping and gurgling can be a huge issue. I noticed that I am getting it more and more now that its getting colder up here in the north. In my rebuildables I can account for this by putting in a bit less cotton but on my lazy aspire tanks I have learned to always hit the button and point the device away from me for a second and releasing in case any buildup decides to come flying at me like lava. After the trial run you should be good to vape as normal. Not sure of any way to fix this really, just easy enough to do a "safety" fire first.

Do you remember the very first cigarette you ever smoked? How was it? Well vaping isn't like smoking and it takes a little time to get used to it and find methods that work for you. I just started about 6 weeks ago and it was kind of harsh and the throat hit was so strong I had a hard time inhaling but now I don't feel like I'm getting enough throat hit. It has really changed for me. At first it was a bit uncomfortable but now I just love it. Hang in there and try different juices and I'm sure you will find it's a lot better than smoking after a little time.
I have a Mini also and it spits a little once in awhile so I understand the sensation on the tongue and again it used to be very uncomfortable but now I don't mind it a bit. The popping and crackling sounds are normal, I like hearing the juice get vaporized!

i agree with this, i have been vaping for a month or so now, I quickly went from evod>nautilus mini>kayfun. I still use both the nautilus and kayfun and have passed along the evod to my brother as he was very interested in it. Each time i started using a new one it seemed very harsh, now it doesn't seem that way at all. It just takes some time to adjust to a new device. I let my brother vape off my kayfun the other night without warning him first it was going to be stronger and he said that was way too harsh for him and the evod is just right (i give it a month tops before he's asking me about other setups). The popping from the kayfun and mini (to a lesser extent) was startling at first, now it seems weird to not hear it while vaping. I'm finding there is an adjustment period to this. But stick with it, it's worth it, i feel noticeably better after only a month.

Mccannch, I'm up in Canada and last winter I noticed that my devices would freeze up on me in the cold. I actually knit sock lanyards for mine now. I don't sell them or anything, but you can find leather or cloth ones around. I keep it around my neck, in my coat, and usually under my sweater too. That way it stays warm and toasty and I can easily pop it out for a quick vape without it freezing or acting up on me. I'm not sure how this will work out for my new RBA but it worked good for my Protank & Evods. I'm actually working on a sock for my RBA now. That's my solution for this issue so I thought it might be helpful to you. Cheers. If you do go with this solution, only pop it out for a quick vape, then put it back. You want to be finished with it before it freezes up too much. I'm figuring it will work well with my RBA cause it's stainless which kind of shrinks in the cold and that makes it more prone to leaking.

it's the PG. get some 50/50 24mg. I smoked two packs a day. The throat hit on PG is sick. Start with the tobacco flavors. Find one you like. the system shock isnt so bad that way.
I agree with this. I don't vape anything less than 24mg nic and I don't experience hard throat hits with the exception of a few flavors such as a strong coffee or tobacco.

I've tried weaker nic levels but never experienced a difderence, more or less, in flavor.

Here's my story. Up 'till now (with the introduction of this cheap, crazy powerful thing called eleaf istick), most people started out on ego-c/ce4 clearamizers. Believe me when I say, you've started out on a whole new level! You've skipped at least two levels. The awful, weak, unsatisfying cigalikes. And the relatively simple, starter kits with ego-c's and simple, yet pretty smooth ce4 clearamizers (or ego-c threaded tanks).

You got yourself a powerful (possibly too powerful, since it puts out more power than it shows, and isn't capable of going any lower) Advanced Personal Vaporizer, and a pretty complicated, very advanced atomizer tank. That's a huge learning curve to overcome. Most have enough trouble starting out the previous way. So, you have a huge advantage that wasn't available to anyone until now. But a lot to figure out, quickly!

This part may or may not have any relevance for you. Everyone seems to be different. When I started out, with the ego-c's, 18 mg nig was too much to handle. It was too harsh, and made me dizzy (50/50, higher VG will be smoother, and have more vapor). So I went to 12 mg nic. that was much better. Of course I wanted tobacco juice. Something equivalent to what I'd smoked. I've gradually increased to 18 and then 24 mg nic, and moved to more dessert juices. I have no intentions of eliminating the nic. I just do what seems good to me. But, I haven't smoked in over 15 months, so, I figure it's all good!

Better quit while I'm ahead. lol. Or perhaps I passed that a long time ago. There's been some good advice on this thread. So just keep on trying. You could always get a few ce4 ego-c threaded tanks and play with them. Just to get some comparisons. They're fairly cheap. Good luck.

best regards, larry mac

p.s., I'd start out on the lowest power setting, and one of the middle airholes. When I turned my isticks on for the first time, they were preset at 3.0 volts. I think that was for a very good reason! Give it a little suck (or two) without inhaling, just to get the coils going, And then suck lightly and slowly, first to mouth, and then to lungs. That is, suck the vapor into your mouth first, and then inhale that same vapor into your lungs. That works for me.

p.s.s., get good quality juices. Nite Life Vapors (can only obtain from PV Liquids), Nicoticket, Halo, Good Life, Suicide Bunny. Alusion, There are many. Do your research on the forum. Brick and Morter store homemade juices usually suck IMO.

I've recently just started vaping and I'm in the process of trying to quit smoking. When I tried my friends vape pen for the first time, it was harsh. Like really harsh. It was really hard to breathe, even with little draws. My lungs felt heavy and just way off. I think that it was just from the type of juice she had in her tank, though. I went to the shop with her and tried a few flavors, bought a few flavors, and bought a starter kit with two kangertech evod2s. After I did a bunch of research on the whole vaping deal, the tech, the juices, the nicknames, etc, I figured out that I prefer juices with high VG. Out of the juices that I bought, I still prefer the ones that are high VG, although I am slowly adjusting to the others that are not as high VG. Now that I've been vaping for a little while, the lung feeling that I would have has all but gone away. So maybe it's the juice that you chose. As I am still very new at this, I personally wouldn't order new juices online before I have tried them. Right now I LOVE Cuttwood's Unicorn Milk, and Monster Melon; and Mister E-liquid's Jade Tiger. I tried all of these at a shop before purchasing, though.

Also, since I'm new to the forum, I can't hardly do anything until after 5 posts, and I don't see myself posting a lost of replies or threads- I'm the type of person that just wants to read and learn what I can: Maybe someone can help me? I don't mean to turn this thread to a new subject.. just if somebody knows.. help a girl out?
Like I said previously, I LOVE Unicorn Milk and Monster Melon by Cuttwood. Does anyone know a reputable online vape shop/ distributor/ whatever you want to call it that sells Cuttwood flavors? I'm slightly paranoid about purchasing online. Some feedback of websites would be appreciated, but I'm especially looking for someone that sells Cuttwood flavors. I'm about a tank away from being empty and where I had bought this bottle is 3 hours away. =/

I just googled cuttwood e-juice. As I've never heard of it, and didn't recognize any of the online sellers for it, I'd suggest some other online sellers. I've bought from dozens of online sellers, and without hesitation would recommend any of them.

Just find a reputable one that has a juice that sounds like one of your cuttwood juices that you like, and I don't think you'll go wrong. Mothers Milk from Suicide Bunny is very good, IMO. As is their Derailed.

Online sellers I highly recommend: Nite life vapors (can only obtain from PV Liquids). Nicoticket. Halo. Suicide Bunny. Allusion. I'm probably forgetting some others, but these are very, very good in my experience.

There are others. Check out the threads on juices on this forum, and get a consensus of what a lot of people like. Follow the "deals and steals" thread. They post discounts on juices and equipment every day. Often very good deals. But don't jump at just anything. Do your research first. Good luck.

best regards, larry mac

p.s., you've done pretty good with your very first post. A lot more than most new members. So don't let that 5 post thing stop you from doing more. There's really nothing you can't do from the new members posts. It's just a mental block for some (including me at first). lol. Keep asking questions. Post anything you want. There are many forum members more knowledgeable than me that love to help new people.

p.s.s., keep on vaping, don't smoke, and keep on smiling Samantha! :)

Welcome to the forum, Samantha!

I was a lurker for quite a while and didn't post much at all. But it doesn't take anything to get up to the 5 posts that will give you more access.

When I started, I was buying juice from a local(ish) B&M store. I thought the flavors were great, but they invariably started tasting nasty. I suspect that is due to my taste buds coming back to life more than anything, but I haven't found a local juice I like since then. And there are a lot more vape shops around here now.

So I started reading several of the juice threads and ordering sample bottles from several vendors. I eventually found some that I have liked very much and can feel confident whenever I order from them. I also discovered that some of the juice reviewing members here have similar flavor palettes to mine. I could read their reviews and feel that I would probably agree with them. Not 100%, but enough that I might order something that they liked if the description appealed to me.

I am primarily a tobacco flavor lover and shop from Heather's Heavenly Vapes all the time. They also have lots of fruit/dessert/bakery flavors to choose from and offer sample packs. They're certainly not my only juice vendor, but possibly my favorite.
