I will troubleshoot when I get home with just one battery and see what I am getting.

I am measuring my coils with both a 510 ohm checker and a multimeter and both come out to .32

If it sounds reasonable then maybe I won't troubleshoot too deeply and just use it until I get the urge to build another. I am going to try a thicker wire gauge, new battery holders and some new batteries. Both batteries were not fully charged I don't think last night when I measured everything but this morning I tossed in 2 fresh ones and just went on a vape break outside and it seems to be on par with my other mods. It seems as though it is hitting much harder this morning.

If you're going so low as 0.3 ohms then you'd want to improve on that 0.16 ohms that the box is adding, but for just throwing a box together like that with contact point's that 0.16 ohms isn't surprising; somebody mentioned about the springs; that might be the biggest contributor.

With time and natural air corrosion, you will also get variations on nonsoldered contact points.

I am going to see if I can eliminate the springs or solder my contact points onto the top of the springs so they are out of the circuit along with replacing certain sections with thicker wire to see if it helps. Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it. Once I get home today I will start messing with it again!

So when I got home from work today I decided to re-solder almost the entire mod. Moved the contact points from the base of the springs to the top of the springs, eliminated that long ground piece and also the smaller positive contact on the 510. Cleaned up most of my solder work as well. This mod is now performing great! Checked the voltage drop and it has significantly improved! With a single vtc4 at 3.95 it is reading 3.5 now! It is definitely going to need a little more fine tuning and maybe some larger gauge wire but I am very satisfied!

Thanks for all the help guys!

for the record, I pull have pulled 110 watts @ 22 amps through 20 gauge single conductor wire. 20 gauge is fine... unless....

is it copper plated aluminum wire? It's popularity has massively grown recently. That may be a point of loss.

Also, that ground solder on the tab, where it connects to the 510 looks a bit suspect, maybe that one.

Keystone battery holders are the best pretty much. $4.50 ish from digikey :p

You know I thought the 20 gauge was going to be okay. I have a keystone battery holder on the way. When it gets here I'm going to rewire with a larger wire just for comparison.
I removed that ground tab and a few other bad solder joints and the voltage drop is pretty good now. Going to try to see if I can make it any better

So I decided I wanted to make my own mod a couple weeks back and finally got around to doing it. I ordered stuff from all over the place in attempts to have extra parts just in case. I was able to wire this up pretty quickly and it vapes pretty well. But I metered a huge voltage drop under load and I am wondering how I can go about fixing this. I was running 2 almost new freshly charged vtc4s at 4.2 each and a .3 ohm dual coil setup and my voltage at the 510 was 4.09 and then under load...... 2.65 lol

...

Remember this is my first ever homemade mod so constructive criticism is appreciated! I also plan on drilling vent holes just in case, but for now the door stays on very loosely.

Very Cool.

I can Remember a time when a MOD was Truly was what you have in this Picture. And that this Forum was Full of people who were Doing Exactly what you did.
