apparently i killed my first atomizer.

Bought my 801 kit about 3.5 weeks ago...i ordered 3 extra attys(4 total.)\
I think i just killed the first one. It just stopped working. i have not done any cleaning(even though i planned on doing so.)

questions

Will cleaning extend their life? I've read that it will, and also that they are disposable and just replace them every 2 weeks-ish(Trog.) Is cleaning /w pepsi really effective? I've been meaning to drop 2 of them into some pepsi for a bit, just hadn't gotten a minute to search for the specifics of the "tech."

Luckily i got 3 left and 5 more on the way(knock on wood, for both.)

Advice?experiances?tips?input?

thanks

Hi Primulas

May your atomiser rest in peace...lol

There are varying opinions on whether regular cleaning makes a difference to atomiser lifespan or not.

Personally, I clean mine when it needs it. For example, if I notice that the vapour is just not being produced, I will check out the atomiser, if it looks 'grubby' then I will at first try giving it a clean with a Q tip ( cotton bud ) making sure I clean around the brass screw in parts also (don't forget to do this to your battery too )

Keeping the connecters clean is just as important as keeping the internals clean.

If you have been using a strong juice, for example Menthol, and want to use the same atomiser for a Fruit type flavour, then a clean is essential, otherwise everything will taste of Menthol.

Some people use Pepsi Max ( no sugar ) I personally use Steradent ( false teeth cleaner)

I place the atomiser is the fizzing mixture for 20 mins, rinse and then allow to dry.

Blowing out the atomiser is something I do regularly. Simply place a tissue at the open end, and blow through the battery connection, its amazing how much old fluid comes out.

Atomisers don't have a long lifetime in general, and it does vary between them quite a lot, so sometimes you have to accept, it was their time...

Hope that helps

Congratulations on your first atomizer failure!!

A good practice, one that I fail to follow myself, is to blow out an atomizer eevry evening and turn it upside down to drain overnight. Nothing like an easy-to-do preventative maitenance procedure.

I generally clean a working atomizer if I want to change smoking fluid flavors or if I think the atomizer is just not working well that day. I put some lemon or lime juice and hot water in a small glass, drop in the atomizer and leave it for an hour. Rinse, blow out and let dry. Then add a few drops of smoking fluid on the atomizer, and it is ready for use.

My wife's atty has went cold twice in one month (Due to carbon buildup on coil (every 2 weeks)):( and I've been lucky and revive it.:) (can't seem to get her to do preventive maintenance, even when it comes to the oil in her car)
I just can't understand how you could be married to an engineer for 33 years and not understand the importance of preventive maintenance. ooops, sorry this is a whole different topic.

Now my atty has been going strong for one-month, still vaps like the first day I started using it:p I do nightly preventative maintenance.

I have been doing testing with cleaning attys and can tell you my preliminary results show preventing maintenance does in fact prolong the atty's life.
I still have more testing to do before I can comment on the results, but I can tell you after one month the readings of my atty shows no sign of deterioration.
start readings @ 5v / 1.012a = 4.94 ohms
readings after 28 days @ 5v / 1.02a = 4.90 ohms you

I will post more on this later:D

Very interesting. 1 month from one atomizer is amazing.

is it the only atomizer you are using? Are you a heavy vaper? What has your maintenance included?

I'll be very interested to see your final results :D

rest in peace.

Ever see pictures of war graves like in Arlington VA or Saving Private Ryan or something with all those rows and rows of white crosses?

On this forum between us we've probably filled every war cemetary in the world and then some with dead atomizers, numbers wise.

Bringing them back to life with Pepsi?

Try pouring some Pepsi on a grave. In my experience, you have as much chance of raising the dead with Pepsi as you do reviving a broken atomizer.
