Very interesting. It needs to be secured to the deck. Maybe into a drilled hole with a small clamp from the side holding it there? I think he said it metered at 0.2 - 0.3 ohms so be careful with your batteries if anyone tries it that low.

0.2 ohms is almost 20 amps on a fresh batt and if the coil touches the cap it goes down fast from there.

A coil with that low of resistance with no coiling and no wick... would be an insanely hot, metal tasting, throat killing vape. I just don't see how it would be able to efficiently wick evenly throughout with that much power. I build dual coil 0.2 ohm setups often to chase clouds when I'm in the mood... and keeping that thing wicking WITH actual wicking material is a pain at times because it vaporizes faster than it can wick. With that much power you got to use MORE wicking material... I just don't see how this could work unless someone could get one setup with a higher resistance.

Instead of building a wickless coil in an atty designed for the standard coil and wick... someone with the tools and know-how needs to design an atty around the idea of a wickless coil.

He said himself that he's out of Kanthal and would love to vape that but he can't. I'm assuming that's because it will strip the lining out of his mouth :D Certainly don't fancy trying that, putting my own standard coils on a mech is plenty for me! You would think after multiple batteries are venting he would stop instead of considering putting that thing to his face!

I only see one vid (about a month after the one posted), subsequent to the one linked. This guy was stacking, looked like the same mod (hard to tell on my phone), and it looked like he had a normal wick set up to wrap coils around in it.

That guy is pushing the envelope and venting batteries seems to be par for the course for him. I personally wouldn't chance this.

Just saw another video of someone else's build. Wickless and is connected to neg. Vapor seems to be real good, and the dude did not look like he had the inside of his mouth tore apart. It's still limited to RDA but hey one step at a time. Someone recommended NR-R-NR wires on here a few days back, maybe using that will help making wickless safer because the R part of the coil is oxidized just like a mesh wick is and will not short on that length of the wire.

He posted a link here on ecf. Wasn't his build but someone on FB's.

Yes - which is why he said he vented his batteries a few times. This is clever but damn dangerous.

Dude never heard of SS rope wick - Same basic function, just all in one layout.

Yes the Coil is shorting to the base, otherwise it would NOT fire.

Please avoid attempting this unless you are experienced with LOW OHM coils - Battery venting can be very dangerous.

Moved to Coil Builds from General E-Smoking Discussion

This kind of stuff...when it goes South sure makes the headlines and really damages any progress made for vaping to be acceptable.
