Im obviously new to the site. I have been using an ecig for a couple of years now. Ive been smoke free for four years. I bought one of the Nicotek Metro cigs and was satisfied with it for a couple of years. Then the batteries wouldnt hold a charge and the carts were not as full as they once were. I would be going through one per day when one used to last me three days or more. Anyway, it just got too expensive and I started looking around for other options. I landed on the Vapor Zeus from V4L. I literally just got it in the mail today. I spent several hours on this forum over the last couple of days and managed to find some cheaper alternatives than the Zeus. I also ordered a Vision Spinner 1300mAh and a Kanger Aerotank. Those should be here in a couple of days. I also have my eye on an iTaste 134 I found locally for much less than the asking price.

So my questions surround the equipment I have just purchased. I know the Zeus is a good unit, but it was pricey. The carts they use are also quite costly. I know the threads are 808D and there doesnt seem to be much that will fit on the battery to take the place of their carts. I could be totally wrong on this, but thats just part of being new to using better equipment. I was rather pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive the Vision Spinner and the Aerotank was compared to the Zeus. I know the tank requires replacements, but they appear to be much much cheaper. I also have my eye on the Protank 3 and the Davide Aspire BDC.

So should I keep the Zeus? Do you think I will eventually just grow tired of it and it will be an expensive paperweight? I did opt for the dual mode version of the battery. I feel that I will be exploring the world of modding more and more and I know how I am with things. When I get into something, I really really get into it. I guess I am afraid that I jumped the gun too quick and bought the Zeus at too high a price. Before I open it up and use it, I wanted to get the opinions of some pros. I guess its a good thing to have more than one unit, but I honestly think I Would rather have more batteries and tanks that are 510 so that everything is pretty compatible.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

The Zeus is kind of an odd thing. (And rather pricey for what it is too.) It is two voltages - but they are very high voltages at 4.4 or 5.0 volts. In that regard it comes down to whether you like the experience you are getting at those voltages. That can present a problem as more stock devices like ProTanks don't have coils made to run well at those voltages.

It has a plain 808 connector - as opposed to other 808 batteries that also have eGo threading in place. What it come down to is if you want to run any of the more stock devices on it you will need an 808 to 510 and/or an 808 to eGo adapter to use them with that bettery. But even then, at those voltages you need pretty high resistance devices. Like in the 2.6 to 3.0 ohm range. It's too much voltage for most stock LR items - it would go harsh with the likes of a 1.8 ohm Kanger coil.

So you can get adapters to use it with stock 510 devices. But if you do have an option to return it... if I were me that's what I would do. Especially at the price. You could get a really good full blown VV/VW APV for that money.

Spinner or Twist is good for starting gear - no arguments there.

If you want something a little more advanced, for half the price of the Zeus battery there is the variable voltage iTaste V3 @ $25.99 Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit - 101 Vape

This has an LCD display, and can also be used while charging - same as the Zeus. It has a standard eGo/510 connector.

I'm sure there will be a lot of other suggestions coming in as well. I was hoping to show you a great deal on the iTaste MVP 2.0 for $39.99 at the same place - but it's completely sold out at the moment. :(

The iTaste family is a good one. You have the 134 (the harley davidson of the family). The MVP is great, as is the VV (essentially, the MVP's little brother). You won't go wrong with either or both.

As for your Zeus... I'm thinking you're on the right track to move it before you open it :2c:

Its going back. Paperwork already started actually!

Im going to make a move on the 134 next. Just looking for a secondary battery now as ill be left with just the Vision Spinner. Before I get to the 134, I think Ill try to decide on the iTaste VV and the SLB V3. Seems the SLB is really new, but there seems to be some dead batteries already o_O

I am with everyone else. Given your proclivity for vaping and desire to progress I would skip the Zeus entirely. And personally even the Spinner, even though it will serve you well and be an excellent out and about piece. The MVP or V3 will have only a slightly steeper learning curve for the technically inclined and offer a substantially better experience. If you understand Ohms law and get this chart
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9dkanCt0I1qc8949o2_1280.png you will be well served with an Innotek device.

It may take you longer to fine tune it and get them humming but a better device is simply better. This is by no means a recommendation to go out and buy a mech or anything. But going ahead and hopping on the VW wagon, well i can hardly blame you for that.

And i wouldnt recommend the 134 for a newbie. It is VW only, and while that is the direction of the market, a VV and VW device will serve you better experience wise for the time being. Wait 6 months and the 134 will have a sweet upgrade and you will be in a better position to take advantage of all it can offer. An MVP2 on the other hand would be a great choice, considerably less expensive. Not to mention if you are going to drop $140 for a 134 you would be better served dropping $20 more so you can have a Provari. It is fool proof and incredibly well built. So hold off a month on the juice you wanted to grab and get that instead if you want to leap into the deep end.

Good luck and no matter what have fun and dont get exasperated. Always make sure you have a solid vape to fall back on and be safe when moving forward.

Haven't seem much about the SLB yet so - don't know. The Innokin iTaste line has been out for quite a while and I don't think there are much of any complaints on ECF about either the V3 or the MVP. Lotta love for both - but for different reasons. Your V3 is an eGo size so it suits the crowd looking for a device in that size range. The MVP, being a box, is completely different. But that battery can easily go two days between charges for most people. The 101vape price on the MVP was a real bargain. It's hard to find them much below $65.00 at most places.

I guess before we go too much farther it's time to back up a step and ask if you have any likes, or dislikes issues? This is a big issue for some new vapers when it comes to size/style/colors. For other people it doesn't matter all that much.

It doesnt matter to me a whole lot when it comes to color or size. I know I dont like the MVP size or look though. Kind of like a deck of cards? Yeah, Im not a fan of those. I really love the look of the 134. I like the steel look and variations of that same finish. Im a little on the fence about the square style of the V3, but I think I will buy one anyway. For the price, why not? I ordered the silver Spinner and of course the Aerotank is stainless. Im a big fan of the stainless/glass style. I have never vaped with anything other than the disposable Metro that I am giving up in favor of something much much better. But I do enjoy a huge cloud, but who here doesnt?

Oh, another thing: Savvy ECF shopping.

For any place you are considering, at the top of every ECF page there is that Coupons tab. Always check there to see if the vendor you are looking at has a discount coupon code. Those are "perpetual codes", not specific to any item, that will give you a discount off your entire order.

Short term deals and specials that members are aware of get posted here => http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/418767-deals-steals.html Might be a site wide sale, could be a deal on a particular item. Never know. Head to the last page and read posts backwards until you see stale dates on the specials.

I am a constant coupon hunter, believe me! When I ordered from Good Life Vapor, I made sure I didnt leave that coupon area blank!

Just something to consider about the not-round V3: it Isn't round. That means you won't be chasing after it - when if falls off the coffee table, off the sofa, off the desk, off the... - and rolls away like a - well like any round PV can and will. That drove me mad when I started. The last straw was the eGo that fell over in the kitchen, rolled off the counter, hit the floor - still rolling and picking up speed, and was all the way to the back wall under the stove in less than two seconds. That was an adventure fishing that thing out.

Very shortly after that I bought my first box mod - with all those right angles and flat sides. It falls over and... just sits there.

A friend bought the 134- his complaints- heavy, ribbed area collects dirt and dust and lacks many features that lower priced APVs have...offered to trade his 134 for my lowly $33 Vamo...bought him an MVP 2 for Christmas which he loves. If patient have seen the 134 on sale for about $65- $70.
MVP 2- quality and inexpensive- agree with Rickajho.
iTaste 3- like it but battery too small for my needs.
The positive about the above PVs/ APV is that Innokin seems to be more focused on quality.

SLB V3- if you're talking about the Mega SLB V3 realize after attaching a clearo/ carto the length will be approx. 7".
Whatever your choice Best of Luck.

Edit: I almost forgot BUT I am a HUGE SLB Kgo (3.7 volt) fan...bought their first VV PV and had button issues ( manufacturer admitted and resolved the issue for everyone) ...have bought 100's of their 3.7 Kgo batts but never would buy a SLB VV again- just my experience.
