Like most on this board I'm definitely a huge fan of vaping vs smoking. I've smoked for 30 years - and was about a 1.5 pad habit. I was introduced to vaping when I was out in LA visiting friends. One of my buddies had a SmokTek Zmax with a DCT tank. I took a couple of puffs and thought it would make a good substitute if I was traveling or in a place where I couldn't light up. Little did I know at the time it would replace analog smokes all together.
When I got back from LA I started doing a bit of research. I'd learned pretty quickly that it makes sense to spend a bit for a quality unit upfront - and I've seen that proved by reading a few threads on here of people who tried going to less expensive route, only to end up spending more in the end. I decided that if smoking was what I wanted to quit...then I'd spend the money on a decent setup right out the gate. I didn't regret my first purchase!
After all was said and done I ended up purchasing a Provari V2 which I happily received on Feb 2nd, 2013. Couldn't wait to get it setup and try it out and at the time just had the sample bottle of cotton candy eliquid that came with it. Ehhh not bad...but that quickly got old - but the 3 flavors I'd ordered shipped separately so I had to wait another day to get my Get Razzled, Blooberry, and Cinnamon Roll @ 18mg liquids in. I started using them with the 510 cartomizers XL - and right out the gate I had a great vape experience. In the week I've had it the flavors have only gotten better! On the advice of my friend I just received a DCT 1.5 tank - I really would recommend that to anyone purchasing a larger unit. I like it wayyyy better than constantly worrying about filling and topping off my 510 carts. Battery life has been fantastic with 12-13 hours of vape time and thats with me hitting it regularly.
The true test of my unit came the 2nd day I had it when I left for Vegas for SuperBowl and a business conference. I vaped in the airport lounge without issue...though I did explain my setup to the bar manager before busting it out and wasn't flagrantly blowing vapor everywhere. I'm pretty sure Delta has a no vape rule but when the passengers next to me dozed off - I stealth vaped without issue - just held it in a bit longer. Vegas was unbelievably fun not having to worry about offending people at the table with smoking or finding a spot on the casino floor or wherever I was at to have a smoke. The one time I ran out of juice at the blackjack table I bummed a analog from a fellow player. Took two drags of it, put it out and promptly went up to the room to grab my refill bottle. I was shocked at how ....ty smoking tasted.
So for about a week and a half I've been smoke free and seemingly the ambassador in my office and with my friends on how great switching over to vaping has been. I'm quite happy I've found a reasonably healthier alternative to a habit (smoking) that I'd tried many times to kick. Now I dig the flavors I've been vaping so much (currently strawberry and cream 80/20 mixed with a bit of banana 80/20 @ 18mg) I wouldn't ever want to go back to traditional cigarettes.
I look forward to reading up all the posts on this forum to get some better advice and recommendations on add ons and other juices for my unit. My only noob advice to prospects and/or people who've tried the ecigs available in the mall or stores is to realize you'll save money in the end and have a much better experience like I did if you just pony up the money for a decent unit up front.
