Well here is my final purchase:

Capture027.png

Capture028.png

67$ (the hidden part bottom right is 35$) and 66$, So a total of about 133$ for my first purchase... I little steep  but is everything alright?

How exactly do I make the juice? then do I drip it in the cartomizer or fill it? I'm thinking trying 50/50 PG/VG mix to start. Will my cartomizers work with the PT?

In the future, instead of buying unflavoured juice, how do I make my own with PG and/or VG?

And I'm curious... how does vaping compare to hookah? Can it be said that this is basically a portable tobacco-free electric hookah?

Hopefully I'll be vaping by next week!

You have a 510 (same as Blu and Volcano). Prices not bad for first purchase. To refill cartos: pry the white cap from end (I use needle-nose pliers), remove inner rubber seal, if any, the same way, then tilt carto and just slowly drip juice down the interior sidewall. Take care not to get any juice in the center hole! Rotate carto about 1/4 turn after each drop. When it starts to look wet, wait for a few mins. If it seems to wick away, you can add a few more drops. Otherwise re-insert rubber seal, and replace cap. Finished.

By the way, I've only been vaping since Aug 20. Have learned a lot here, though all I know is related to these two models (510 and RN4081). Good luck and welcome.

The vapor production will depend on the model of ecig you get. I have found something like the ego riva and mega trex produce more vapor than the 510. That is my personal experience after 2+ years of vaping.

Also I would suggest to start with premade liquids untill you get the hang of them and feel confident making your own after doing research. Making liquid is not super easy. You will have to play with the flavorings to get it right. I quit making my own liquid after deciding the playing with the recipes to be a pain. However, you may find that you love making your own liquid and continue doing so.

Too late for that :( I already ordered theses! But any tips on how to make the juice exactly would be appreciated :)

My main concern atm is if my cartomizers will work with my 5V PT... Also, if I want to test a flavor, can I "drip" vape? or do I need an atomizer for that?

Making your own liquid is more of an art. I used a small program a friend gave me. I think he said he got it from here about 2 years ago. I started with that program and took about 20 tries to get a liquid I liked. Also the strength of the flavoring will play a huge roll in how much to add to your liquid. Lorans even were not consistant and I had to constantly adjust my mixtures to get a good liquid.

The main thing is to make sure to be careful when mixing wear gloves and eye protection. E-liquid burns like crazy if you get a drop in your eye. I learned the hard way. I had a little tiny drop splash up in my eye while mixing.

Heyas nster,

Welcome, and congrats on your first purchase!

Just a couple thoughts. As bp said, you'll need an atty for dripping. A cartomizer is a one-piece atty and cartridge combined, so not suitable for dripping.

The good news is, a normal 510 atty can be purchased for about $3 - $8, depending on where and in what quantity you buy.

You'll also need either a cartridge, empty (no liquid) or blank (no liquid or filler material), or better yet, a drip tip. Cartridges are made to be filled from the bottom (part that attaches to the atty) and have a relatively small hole on the mouthpiece end that would be unsuitable for dripping into. You could use one for dripping, but you'd have to pull off the cartridge every time you drip, then replace it to vape. Not a huge deal, but inconvenient.

A drip tip on the other hand, has a much larger hole in the mouthpiece end, and is usually chamfered (sp?) so that you can drip directly into the mouthpiece without removing it.

Also, from your list, it looks like you ordered 1 pass-thru, one batt, and 1 ac-usb adapter. The adapter is probably just an ac plug with a usb port on it, to attach your passthru cable or a charger to, so it doesn't sound like you have any way to charge your batt. Also, unless you only plan on vaping in front of your computer, or want to constantly be plugging in the passthru and ac adapter to an outlet, it's nice to have at least 2 batts. One to use and one to charge.

That being said, I use 510 compatible stuff and love it. SO much variety that you can use hardware wise. Also, I've only been vaping for a couple weeks, so take anything I say with a grain of salt ;P

Enjoy!

Well, the description in the link lists 2 batts, a charger, and a usb adapter, so you're good there. And, while I've heard of attaching a driptip to a carto, I haven't used carto's yet myself, and think this is probably more for a comfortable mouthpiece than for dripping. But, I could be entirely wrong there. So, you may still need an atty for dripping. Hopefully someone much more knowledgeable than myself will chime in on that :p

Welcome to the site, you will get a lot of help here. I sure needed it and still do, Ive been vaping for only a few weeks but so far have gotten very useful tips and advice here.

Your first setup looks good apart from a couple things maybe, you actually spent almost the same amount getting set u as I did. My first total was 132$, if I remember right lol.

I like the idea of a passthrough for your device, It's something I tried to get early on when I was considering a slimmer model. Passthroughs almost guarantee that you can vape at a consistant voltage. Bateries on the other hand, particularly the smaller ones vape best when they are fresh off the charger. As the hours pass most of them take a slow and gradual perfomence hit until you recharge them. Also with the passthrough you'll be able to extend the life of your batteries by using them less.

The cartomizers are also something I like, although I haven't tried attys yet.

However since you are mixing your own liquids cartomizers may be a problem for you. Ive used cartos a great bit in the last couple weeks and I can tell you that once you fill a carto with a certain flavor, you are basically stuck with that flavor unless you clean it out. Doing that however takes time, I just spent about an hour cleaning one carto by boiling it twice and rinsing it a few times under a hot tap to get a burnt taste out of it. now I'll have to let it dry for a day or two before I refill.

So if your mixing your own liquids you can indeed use your liquid in the cartos you got, but if you dont like one of your mixes your gonna be stuck with that flavor for a while.

Many people rave about direct atty dripping, but personally id only use that for what your doing. Testing out custom mixes, or perhaps trying out a new liquid.

One other thing, you asked about how to mix liquids in your opening post. I cant help you too much their because I'm a newb myself, but I can tell you that if your going to use cartomizers that a higher PG level will be smart. VG is much thicker than PG and can create problems on cartomizers.

If the liquid you mix is too thick the filler material inside might not absorb it properly. Ive already had problems like this on a couple cartomizers and the liquids I have are only 20 - 30 % VG. All cartomizers are different though and some people claim to be getting away with filling cartos with 100% VG. Next month Im going to test out some 60% VG on a carto and see what happens.

Anyway, good luck and I hope your able to figure out the mixing. You have more bravery for trying that than I did on my first purchase. :p

PG just refers to the main component of the PG juice. unflavored 0mg PG would just be PG with no flavor, and 0mg/1000mg of nicotine.

What's the difference between PROPYLENE GLYCOL 4 oz and Unflavored PG ? The latter is more expensive but it seems it is the same thing? So I paid 9$ for 50ml when I could have paid 5$ for 120ml? Over 4x the price :(

Mikenet, much thanks for your post
