I got my sigelei 150 today in the mail as well as a tobeco tobh rda.

First build was 3 wraps of some supper thin wire that came with the atty. Came to .7 ohms

Second was with 28 ga I believe, came to .3 ohms.

Both were wicked with organic cotton. Snug but was able to pull though without tipping my mod over.

Both results were the same. Very hot and airey. Very very little vapor. Nic rush like no other. And harsh.
juice was mostly 80% vg 6 mg

Lined the air holes up with coil.

I'm stumped and pretty discouraged.

Both pictures are of my second build

For a general rule of thumb. Per say I have a 30 ga wire. Which will have a higher resistance 3 wraps or 7?

And as well if I wrapped a 32 ga and 26 ga both 6 wraps. Which will have a greater resistance?

That will be very helpful for my next build

And for a .8 build. how many watts/ volts should I be shooting for?

Head over to Steam Engine | free vaping calculators and start playing around with the numbers in their Coil Wrapping section.

3 wraps isn't enough surface area to evaporate liquid well. You end up with a hot coil in a tightly focused section of your cotton (or whatever).

Try increasing the wire gauge so you end up with more wraps, at least 5 or more. Keep in mind though, thicker wire will take longer to heat up, it's a trade off.

I generally build in the .6 - .8 range and on a fresh battery (mechanical mod) it ends up in the 18-20 watt range. That works for ME, your mileage may vary...

This is a great site for building. You can plug in your target ohms, wire gauge, dual or single coil, diameter, etc and it will tell you how many wraps etc. Plus it has tabs for ohms law, battery drain, DIY E liquid stuff....bookmark it for sure!

Be sure to clean out the atty real good with soapy hot water so you don't get any machine oil.
Keep it up, I just got my first atty in yesterday and I am getting better and better with it. I was disappointed at first, but now I am getting the hang of it. Relax, have fun with it...you will get it.

airy draw always has to deal with the type of atty, nothing to do with the coils. giant airflow holes/big mouthpiece will always be an airy draw. Also dual coils are a bit tougher as you have to make sure they are even and the same resistance so they heat up the same, and your putting enough power into them to heat them up to vaporize juice. Its way easier just doing single coils, you dont really need to run dual coils for more vapor.

So is mine. That's why I suggested it. ;)
But my point is, on a VW device, the resistance doesnt really matter, because youre setting the wattage with the device. A 0.3ohm coil could be an ice cold vape if set at 10 watts, and 1.2 ohms could be a monster if set at 150. As long as youre within the amp/volt window for your device, resistance means nothing.

All I know is on the attys I own, I'm unable to find the right balance of vapor temperature and flavor (for the way I like to vape) on anything below .6-7Ω, regardless of what wattage I'm set to. So in that sense, yes, resistance does matter.

the higher the resistance even if you set the wattage up it seems to taste burnt or this wicktasting flavor very muted and weird tasting. still creates massive clouds but id think burning juices that quick and hot could be kinda dangerous. the lower ohms i do it seems they heat up more gradually so it doesnt instantly burn the juice i think. not quite sure but thats what It feels like while vaping lower ohm coils vs higher ohm coils to me.

When I was at .3, by the time I got the wattage down to a point where the vapor temperature was comfortable for me, I started losing some of the flavor notes in my juices and the vapor became too thin for my liking. As I started to build coils at higher ohms, I was starting to get those notes back while still staying in my comfort zone with regard to temperature. By the time I reached a .8 build, I knew I'd hit my sweet spot: good flavor, virtually no throat hit, perfect temp (on the cooler side) and a nice, dense cloud.

It's great how vaping -- with all the choices of mods, attys, different coil builds, different juices etc that are available to us -- allows each of us to find the right combination of the above to suit our own individual needs and preferences. [emoji4]
