WHAT AM I DOING WRONG! I got my wick/wire from OKCVapes 32 gauge/2.5 mm the stuff looks good, popular place for supplies. I bought a iGo-L and have made three successful coils for it (I've made a few before for my vivi heads) and all of them TASTE LIKE METAL.

I've watched at least 50+ videos of guys doing this and saying things like it needs a "break-in period", ok but how long? I think a week is plenty long enough, wouldn't you?

What kind of metal are they using in regular attys and cartos, I've never tasted anything as in-your-face metallic before?

What I'm using to fire the thing is a Vamo, so I realize that I can't make super low ohm wraps, but I'm staring to think I see why guys like the super low ohms. My guess is that having a red hot glow reduces the metallic taste a lot.

Any help would be swell!

Metallic taste comes from coils too loose. It's the taste of glowing wire. What wick material are you using? ss mesh?

edit; sorry, could also be a lack of liquid; but that's usually only an issue with Genisis style & wicking

loose wire was my first thought also. Anytime I get the metallic, burnt taste, I take my top cap off and sure enough.. there it is.. a tiny part of the coil that isn't in contact with the wick. Sometimes I'm lazy and don't want to fix it right away.. then I do the full tilt to keep plenty of juice on the coil.. but that's only a bandaide and the offending part has to be dealt with sooner rather than later.

Torch the wire before you make your coils. You can use a lighter, just get it to glow red for a second and move down until you've done the whole piece. Also make sure you've got the air hole lined up with your coil. I usually drill them out a little for lighter draw. These will help along with what's mentioned above.
