So, I ordered 2 mods on a impulse buy. A Smoktech Bolt, and a KTS mechanical clone mechanical mod. I also bought a couple of 18650 IMR batteries on Amazon. All are currently in the mail.

Keep in mind I am still "new"ish to vaping. I've only really ever used Vivi tanks and cartos.

Will my current Vivi tank work "properly" on either? I know it will technically work, but will it work right? LOL. I use 2.4ohm coils in my Vivi, and I get standard resistance Boge cartos.

I kind of looked around and usually only see people with rebuildable attys on mods. I'm kind of nervous to even get one because I like to unintentionally mess things up. LOL.

Not sure what you would consider a standard resistance, there are so many choices!

But in answer. They will work, but not very well. Mechanicals are best suited for ohm ratings of 1.5 or below.
That's not true. Manufactured coils (cartos, clearos) that are considered standard or low resistance both work fine with a 3.7 volt battery. The notion that mechanicals are only good for extremely low resistance is a fallicy. Some people prefer a cooler vape. My daughter and myself both use 2.o ohm coils and are perfectly satisfied with that resistance.

Thanks guys. I tried searching for mechanical mods with vivis attached and didn't find much. I was hoping I wasn't going to be forced to man up and buy a rebuildable atty at this time. I don't think I'm ready for that. Still need to research.

Even if they'll work temporarily until the day I decide to step up, it'd be great.

Cartotanks work great on a mechanical mod. There's no reason a clearotank won't either.

Please don't get me wrong, I didn't say they wouldn't work, it's just my vaping habits and experience that says, "not very well". I don't mean to be misleading. I prefer a hotter vape with a lower ohm and I sometimes let that influence my thinking. Higher resistance will indeed work. I sometimes forget other folks have different needs. My apologies!

It's no problem. I'm new to mechs (new to any mod), and I'm using a Protank while I get used to it. It is a cool vape, so it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I love it, and I know there are other folks on the forums who use clearos like this on mechanical mods as well. :)

Baditude is completely right. I use my cartos on my mechanical when I want a change of pace. The only thing you might notice is that they run hotter than you are used to when the battery is fully charged. After you run the battery down a bit, it will probably feel typical to you. You don't get the power regulation with a mechanical that you do with an adjustable, so the vape will vary depending on the charge of the battery. Good luck and have fun!
