First Successful Build!

Greetings, all! I'm breaking out of the New Members Area! Due to class and work, I haven't been as active on here as I'd like. Retail + senior year of college = almost no spare time, especially this time of year. Anyhoo, I finally had time tonight to sit down with my Prometheus clone and rebuild it with some 32 gauge, as opposed to the 28 that I was using earlier. I shot for a dual microcoil build, 8 wraps each, reading out at 2.0 Ohms (1.9 actual) coupled with 316L #400 SS mesh wicks. It finally has some flavor coming through, and doesn't burn anything. I still have to do the genny tilt, but I'm okay with that for now.

Here it is!

Powered by a Nemesis clone with a kick:

The current setup:

It hits pretty well with 80/20, but I know it can do better and produce more vapor. Perhaps I'll play around with the kick and up the wattage (currently on 10).

Feel free to criticize or offer any tips. I'm looking to learn as much as possible, and I appreciate any and all advice I can get.

Wow, a mesh build intended to be kicked. I would just sub ohm that bad boy.

I actually started messing around with gennys with horizontal coils and rayon (variation of an auto dripper). Wick does not go into the tank at all, just covers the deck.

Works incredibly well on my Kraken, and is very leak resistant (not 100 percent but good enough for my purposes) and the best part is it is 100 x easier to build and maintain than any traditional set up.

P.S.

If you think you don't have any time now, try going to school for a doctorate. Ask me how I know ;)

I figured I'd start off with what I know, and what's safe. So, 2 ohm with a protective circuit for now. I'll probably get into sub-ohming soon, after I've completed a few more builds and am comfortable with the equipment.

I just rolled 2 new hybrid wicks: mesh with a cotton core. Np more tilt! And it actually produced more vapor now. I looked into doing a horizontal setup like a dragon coil, but I'm not sure how this deck would handle that. It seems a little cramped with the gigantic negative screws. I might have to stop by my local hardware store and pick up some lower profile screws. I know I don't have the best setup, but it seems to work. No dry hits, and it produces fairly well. I just need to figure out how to get more flavor to come through. It seems like my protank3 had better flavor, which is odd.

And good luck on that doctorate! I couldn't imagine having a full time job and going to classes. It'll be worth it, though. At least that's what I tell myself lol.

Update!

I just built a horizontal microcoil setup using just cotton. 7 wraps around a 5/64 bit with 28 gauge. Literally everything is better. It reads at about .9 ohms, and I put the kick on the sidelines. The flavor is fantastic, the production is much better, and it's finally making it seem like a worthwhile purchase. I'm happy. :D

I'll post pictures tonight after work.

Hey, I said rayon, not cotton! :p

Vert coils (with any wick) and mesh never... meshed with me (see what I did there??)

Likely due to having mastered conventional builds long before picking up a genny.

But being able to EASILY use the same coil for a very long time is awesome along with brainless re-wicks.

As far as flavor and vapor it kills anything I have ever tried with steel as well, so I figure win win.
