Built my first successful coil after many failures. Im using a kayfun lite plus on a nemesis clone. I built the coil at 1.9 ohms and am using a 30 amp sonyvtc5 with a vape safe fuse. Wicked with cotton. The vapor production is excellent but Im not getting good flavor. The flavor is hard to describe but its very unpleasant. Any suggestions.

A clear picture or two of your build would help a lot schapiro. OTOH, if you tell us all the details that will do it too

I would build it with 28 Gauge at .9 - 1 ohm. Looks like a bit much on the cotton too. Download Vaper's Toolbox for Android. Great tool for building coils! Looks like your on your way though with your first build! You'll just get better at it as you go along!
Just my opinion, but I think the Kayfun really doesn't start to come alive until you're getting below 1.3 ohms or so unless you can push the wattage up on a regulated mod.
1.9 ohms at 4.2 volts is just over 9 watts. As your battery voltage drops off, the wattage will only decrease.
Although 9 watts might be too much for some atomizers, I think the Kayfun is just starting to stretch its legs at 9 watts.

The Kayfun is not a sub ohm topper, and works best between 1.25 and 1.5 ohms for most people. IMO the Kayfun also benefits from regulated voltage. I run mine at about 3.5v with a 1.25 ohm coil (10 watts). I also found that getting the wick right was more important than getting overly fancy with the coil.
I run mine at 0.9 - 1.0 on mech mods and like it there. IMO 1.3 is not as critical for wicking so that's a good idea.
It's a bit hard to see because your pics are not clear but I think you're using too much cotton and leaving the tails a bit long. Too much cotton in the coil will restrict the amount of juice the wick will be able to move into the coil causing burning. Leave the tails too long and thick and when you screw on the cover it will push wick onto the top of the juice channels which in my experience also causes restricted wicking and burnt hits.

. Good luck with it.Shortened the wick and made a 1.5ohm coil. Tried for 1.3 but too many wraps. Still a world of difference. Then I had problems firing the mod but it was just a screw issue. Everything is working and getting better thanks.
