Well at the very least wrap yourself to a micro coil with a cotton wick so you have something to puff on while you fiddlefuk around trying to wrap your wire evenly around that mesh crap, sucking down dry hits and treating the thing like it's a miracle when, no if, it ever does work right, baby it so it doesn't screw up. ..

In all reality I always used a blowtorch on the end of a green Coleman propane tank, the big one, like for a lantern or camping stove, and no juice, but I torched it really good kept the tension right and never had a problem, I think as stated above those are the key elements. But I never had a mesh setup that out preformed a similar cotton build, so there's no advantage to mesh and it's undeniably a pain in the ... for a lot of people, many who probably have up on gennys altogether without trying cotton.

Sticking cotton in a gennie IS giving up on gennies ;)

I tried cotton for the first time on my genny this morning, and it wasn't bad, but still not as much flavor or vapor as I got when my genny arrived (with a build already done).

I continue soldiering away at doing my own builds. Using the drill bit method, I put together a coi this morning, shown below (dry firing at about 5 volts). Still getting dry hits at anything higher than 4.5 volts, and I think either my coil is too lose, or the mesh wick isn't totally right. I've run out of mesh, so I've had to reuse some previous wicks, until I can get to a vape shop this w/e.

Blah..Not using cotton is like having your head up your ...... And keeping it there.

I am quite capable of using mesh, it's OK, but Def not faster, easier, cleaner, (insert any word for better) and or better than cotton.

I tried cotton on my genny, and it was a very good vape; cotton is the only wick material I use on my other RBAs.

But -- and maybe this just comes down to personal taste -- on my Cobra, I prefer mesh. Truck loads of grief learning how to do a good build, and if I hadn't gotten hands-on help by two other vapers, the frustration level would probably have made me seriously think about giving up on mesh.

Glen, sounds like your having most of the typical problems associated with the use of mesh wicks..... Key word mesh.

Edit:
Running into some of these same exact problems with a new RSST. Gonna post in here soon.

Have you checked out many tutorials? Here are two of my favorites:

Try it without the fill hole plugged let it breath, allow air in will facilitate juice exiting tank to the wick, if your wick is really tight fit and or rolled out could be choking, tight v. Hollow, yet another thing people disagree over when it comes to mesh I believe...

The same could be said for those who punt and shy away from mesh never to experience the greatness of a good mesh build. That was me, until I figured it out.

Mesh is slower and more difficult, but otherwise I disagree. Perhaps we should always give up on things that aren't quick and easy.

Dude, cotton sucks in a genny, mesh is so much better.

Just to follow up on the orig post, I finally put together a mesh wick build that compares to the one that my Cobra came with...it's a darn good vape.

I've been vaping a Betamorph papaya flavor for the past couple days, which tasted pretty good on my KF clone. But on my genny with a mesh wick, the flavor just explodes, it's absolutely delicious.

Don't want to start another round of this-is-better-than-that-no-it's-not comments, and to some extent i'm talking about personal taste -- the Cobra produces an airy, cool vape, which is my personal vaping preference.

Thanks to everyone in this thread who gave such helpful advice.
