Hi everyone. I am building my first RTA and I am having problems. So the build works when I don't have the tank attached to it, but when I have the tank attached it says ohms too low. Also, the ohms fluctuate quite a bit when the coil is the only this attached. I am using a Crius OBS RTA. I have messed with the 510, cleaned it with alcohol, and still can't figure out whats going on. I hard also rebuilt it a couple times with new coils. HELP!

Check the 510 connection with an ohmmeter. It's possible that the coil is touching the outer chimney and shorting to ground.

What resistance is your coil? Tell us about wire gauge, coil diameter, and, number of turns and we can tell you what the resistance should be.

Multi-strands fused clapton
2-28/9-38/36
Ni80 0.32ohms
ID:3mm

This it was is says on the box. it has 5 turns on it

Claptons are a special case. Standard single strand wire is another. NiChrome can't be dry burned. if the coils are touching you may read a short. That's why it's important to use an ohm meter to tell if it's the coil that's shorted or if the coil is touching a metal part inside the atomizer.

I wind single strand coils. Someone will be along to help you.

Shorting out yes.
I have not built my crius (original not plus etc..) in some time but if memory serves I had to use 2.5 coils in mine. May have been 3mm with standard wire.
If you have coiling rods you can put prebuilt coils on a smaller rod and pull them tight to reduce the total diameter.
To put it simply complex coils are larger so when you put on the chimney it hits the coil causing a short. The Flux without a cap sounds like a post not making good contact.
Let us know how it goes.

I'll admit I never built with NiChrome, but I never heard of dry burn issues with it, just TC Ni200.
