I just had to post this because I am so excited to finally have some flavors I can love. I finally decided to try DIY liquids after many orders and a lot of wasted money on e-liquids that turned out to be gross or unusable. I started out just mixing flavors I got that were bad to make something vapable and realized that "hey, I can do this"!

I have a B&M store down the street where I've been getting my juice since I started vaping and, although they are great people and their service is excellent, their flavors leave something to be desired. I have gotten a few bottles from them that I couldn't stand and a couple I loved so its been hit and miss.

I agree with others here who say don't throw anything away, mix it with something else. Just hold two bottle under your nose and smell them together to get an idea what they might taste like mixed. I've made 4 small bottles that taste better to me than all the stuff I've bought from the store and online. They're far from professional mixes and are higher in VG because I like a lot of vapor and PG burns my throat and nasal passages, but I am completely happy with it.

If anyone is having trouble sticking with vaping, meaning you still smoke cigarettes, try making your own tobacco and menthol recipes (if you like menthol). Its easier to transition from cigarettes if what you're vaping tastes familiar to you. I tried the fruity recipes too soon and I think that's why I still smoke half the time. You can't jump from cigarette or tobacco flavor to unrelated flavors without feeling like you're missing something.

I'll let everyone know how it goes, because I think with my new mixes its going to be easier for me to vape more and smoke less until one day I just "forget to smoke" and realize it a week later. Good luck to all, and thanks to everyone who contributes their knowledge and experience to this forum. You've all helped me so much! Keep up the great work.

Good to hear Lisa. It's quite satisfying when you make something you like, as opposed to buying store bought. TBH, like you I've bought some retail juice that I thought left a lot to be desired. So far everything but 1 of my homemade juices has been good to very good. I make 1 that I like better than anything I ever bought. Congrats and Happy Vaping :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

Good going Lisa! I got into that too and have arrived a juice that is my all day vape. I had a local B&M that had a Turkish that I really loved, but there was this nasty person there who didn't like me at all and was always nasty to me, apparently because I could build RBA's and he could not. Meh! What a loser.

So I stopped doing business there after buying over 500 ml of juice and a good deal of hardware from them, and got into making my own. It's been a LOT cheaper and a good deal more rewarding as well. It was things like this that prompted me to move toward being independent of the B&M's, and now I don't really need anything from them. When you use a mech and an RBA all you really need is mesh and kanthal, especially if you make your own juices.

I got into the fancypants approach going with laboratory glassware, which I've always liked anyway.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the words of encouragement. I was afraid to try mixing because I figured I'd probably mess it up and end up with nothing but gross juice, I purchased a bottle of Black Cherry Tobacco from my B&M that tasted (to me) like oil burning on a stove burner smells. You know what that's like, drip a little cooking oil on a hot burner and it smells awful, well that's what it tasted like too. I had wasted $8.95 on a bottle of juice I couldn't stand. That's what got me started, I figured I couldn't mess it up any worse than this so why not give it a try. I mixed it with some Black Honey Tobacco Flavoring and I'll let you know how it tastes when it's done steeping. It smells really good though and my other mixes came out pretty good so I think this will too.

I mixed up some TFA Black Honey Tobacco up too at 8%, it's been steeping for about 2 weeks. I tried a little last night and it's not bad at all. You might also like TFA RY4 Double. I mix that at 8-10% with a drop or 2 of AP (for nuttiness) per 5ml. I've recently been adding 2% Caramel and 2% Bavarian Cream too it, my ADV.

Cheers,

You are quite welcome sweetie :)

No, you can't mess it up any worse than they do, and I've seen some B&M's practice some really questionable juice mixing methods. I watched this going on at a local B&M quite recently and I would not have bought any of the juice they were making that day. Yucko!

One thing that got me into making my own was that shopping for juice to use in an RBA never worked out. It's going to taste different in their tester eGo/clearo rig, and by the time you get it home and put it in your RBA it might be the most horrible stuff you ever vaped. That's happened to me more times than I care to remember. What tastes good at 2.5 ohms can easily taste hideous at .8 ohm.

So I make my juices exclusively for my own RBA's, and that works far better for me.

I agree with you Vaslovik,
It's nice not to feel like you're dependent on the stores anymore. I got a small amount to start-125 ml of nicotine juice, some vg and a few flavorings to get started from MyFreedomSmokes.com, and I've been playing mad scientist all morning, hehehe. I have a new found zeal for vaping and I just ordered my second VV device, an ego V2 with a mini vivi nova tank. I'm lovin it! I am thinking my first mod might be the MVP 2.0 to ease into mods (another area I've been afraid to venture into).

I have the MVP2 and really like it - It also comes with an IClear 30. Great bang for the buck imo.

Oh I understand the afraid to venture into new areas thing. It's part of what makes it such a rewarding and joyful experience when you finally do it and succeed :)

Isn't it fun playing mad scientist? I know I love it, that's why I got the laboratory glassware, it's fun to cackle over a new beaker of juice while rubbing my hands together and grinning like a fiend :D

I made some juice that the guys at the B&M's like a lot, and they told me they would buy it too. These are guys with hundreds of bottles of juice around them all day, and their pick of any of them. I gave them 30 ml bottles at two of the B&M's and they sold some out of them. Unfortunately I got no sales out of it and two of those guys have been fired since then. Whatcha gonna do?

I made another juice they tell me tastes just like Five Pawns Gambit. Well I'll have to take their word for it, I can't afford that stuff, but I'm not giving away bottles of it either. I'm vaping every ml of it, heheheee!

Exactly, hahaha. I'm lovin it. I know now that I will never spend another $20 for a 30 mil bottle of juice and never have to worry about running out of juice again. I'll just have to make sure I keep a good supply of flavors and liquids so I can try out some of the yummy sounding recipes here and experiment with some of my own. I cook so I figure I have a good nose for what might go well together, and so far I've been right. I'm going to stick simple recipes with one or two flavors until I get percentages down. I started with tobacco flavors because that's what is going to keep me from smoking right now, familiar flavors. I have a couple of tobacco flavors and one really good, sweet menthol which I am enjoying right now along with some impressive vapor.

TFA Black honey tobacco was the only flavor I could not steep in my UC. I had to steep this naturally for 5 weeks before it lost it's chemical taste. But now that I've got the batch right it is one of my favs. When I get to about a forth of a bottle I mix more and let it seed steep. Seed steeping has cut the steep time down to a few days.
