So I've been trying to come up with a good menthol recipe and really thought menthol and koolada would get me there. I started with a 5% mix of TPA menthol liquid and 5% koolada, and tweaked it from there up to 7% menthol liquid and 6% koolada, but it always seemed that something was missing.

Last night I attempted a wintergreen recipe by adding 20% wintergreen from TPA to the above menthol and koolada mix. Whaddayaknow...perfect menthol!! For some reason the wintergreen seemed to bring out the menthol just a touch with a great aftershot of wintergreen and that cool feeling from the koolada!!

Finally!! Sorry, but as a fairly new DIYer, I'm kinda stoked!!

Cool! (pun intended)

The inverse is also true. A bit of menthol really makes wintergreen pop.

Interesting! I may try that on my next batch...just lower the menthol percentage a bit to allow the wintergreen to come through a little more. This recipe's a keeper though! All my batches up to now have been fair at best. I'd sure pay a juice company for this one though. Cool thing is...I don't have to!! ;)

Congratulations!!! :D Thanks for the tip. I like TFA's Wintergreen but don't make up too much ahead of time because it does lose it's flavor fairly quickly. If you add wintergreen to chocolate you get... TADA!!!! Tootsie Roll!! More wintergreen and less chocolate gives you...you'll never guess!!! Root Beer!!! LOL It would be so much easier if it were more like cooking. Adding a certain flavor molecule you think would make something taste a certain way can actually make it into something totally different than you planned on. Also some flavors delete other flavors.

Tootsie Roll huh?? Strange combination to achieve that. I only make up about 25 mls at a time, and that only lasts a few days, so I think I'm good...thanks for the tip though!

Omg, lol! I hate wintergreen, but maybe I need to try it for the rootbeer! :D
