First time dripping help

Sup guys. As the title says I could use a little help. I just purchased a Vulcan and am having some issues. It's too hot! I've built a few coils for it now and all of them burn the back of my throat before I even get any good vapor. I'm running it on my Cana dna 30. All of my builds have be some variant of a dual coil 28 gauge setup and I've tried to stay about 1.2 ohms. My most recent build for it is a single twisted coil also at 1.2 ohms. It seems to work the best but still not any real vapor production and its still pretty hot. I know the Vulcan isn't a vapor beast like some out there but its not even putting out as good as my Russian. As far as wattage I've been adjusting it to stay at least above 4v so it'll be regulated but I haven't been going too high. I know its something I'm doing wrong, I just can't figure out what. Any suggestions?

Oh I'm also using space jam Andromeda 6mg nicotine. Idk the VG/PG ratio of it.

Just 10 to 12 wraps on 2,5 mm bit. Organic cotton boiled

so its not a contact coil? your leaving gaps between the wraps?

Oh no. They are wrapped uniform flush and tight. Pre heated so they'll hold shape easier. Both coils light up at the same time and burn from the inside out. No hot spots.

that sounds good. so i dont build with cotton... but the everyone i know does. however none of them boil it they just use organic unbleached cotton.. they say you need to "unroll" the cotton ball so you have a strip of cotton then pull a smaller strip from the side of the larger strip. then take that and gently roll it up and feed it into the coil. MOST people use to much cotton at first and the wick ends up way to dense and that prevents the e-liquid from flowing quickly to the coil.

cotton balls have sort of a grain to them, much like wood. using the method described above uses this to your advantage.

is the airflow hole(s) open all the way and lined up with the coil(s)?

How is the airflow? I dont have one yet(almost ordered one a few times), but I heard you can adjust the airflow a little with the laser engraved V part and the columns. From the reviews I have read, it is a more restricted hitter, and hotter than some. Could you try getting some more airflow somehow for that voltage. Have you tried super low voltage, like 3.4-3.5? It's hard to say without hitting it. It could even be the Nic level. RDA are a lot more potent. Like 18mg max max max. And that will put you on your .... I notice the nic burn when I go higher than 6mg. I also use a Evic Supreme with a Stillare clone. It has huge airflow so I can run it around 5v 25w. Let us know if you figure it out. Where did you buy it from?

Usually a vape that is harsh and with little vapor is an airflow issue like happydave said. So if you are sure your airflow is right and your coils are perfectly lined up with it (even a little off can change the vape significantly) then it could be either a hotspot or a hot leg or something.

Have you checked to make sure the coil glows evenly from the center out and your legs aren't glowing at all? Obviously you'll do this with no wick...

A good closeup of the build would be a great help in figuring out what is wrong.

Some close up pics would be good. Check your VG/PG ratio as well. I have a hard time dripping 50-50... Burns my throat. You might wanna try more of a VG base liquid.

Second vote for airflow

Edit: what method are you using to hit? You said first time dripping. Are you trying to hit mouth to lung? You should really do straight to lung hits to get proper vape on an RDA

The only way I know to get more air flow is to drill holes. Might be something I consider for the future but not right now. I do have an adjustable airflow drip tip but it really doesn't seem to do anything and just seems gimmicky anyway. I haven't gone under 4v yet because doing so on my DNA 30 would be unregulated. Weather or not that's a bad thing idk. Sounds kinda bad so I've been avoiding it. Compared to my Russian the airflow is really loose. But that's to be expected lol. I did take one hit on a varatose today and it is tighter than that. That's the only experience I have with RDA's though. I'm running 6mg nic. I picked it up at Alaska vapor supply today. When I purchased it I was having a hard time deciding between it and a 454. I'm going to go back tomorrow and see if they can help me out. They were really helpful today so I have no doubt. Who knows I might just trade it for the 454.

this would for sure help, space jam being some "top shelf" stuff i figured it was at least %80 VG... but after some searching the PG/VG ratio is not stated by the manufacturer.

going unregulated is fine, it just means the longer you hold the fire button down the more the output voltage will drop. so each hit you take will start out at like 3.9 volts and over the course of the hit the voltage will drop. this is known as "voltage drop under load".
basically like running a mech mod.

Shade...to the best of my knowledge the airholes are lined up right (based on YouTube videos). The coils are glowing middle out evenly and the legs don't light up. I'll include a pic once I'm through typing this response.
Hawaiian...to the best of my knowledge space jam is 65/45. Which way though, idk. I will be picking up higher VG tomorrow.
