going unregulated is fine, it just means the longer you hold the fire button down the more the output voltage will drop. so each hit you take will start out at like 3.9 volts and over the course of the hit the voltage will drop. this is known as "voltage drop under load".
basically like running a mech mod.

Try a build without twisted wire....should be cooler that way. Also, your wicking might need a tad more cotton

I started my rebuilding on kanger heads.....get a 1.2 ohm coil with 28 gauge kanthal into one of those.....you can get a coil anywhere

I even made a dual coil .75 ohm in an old style kanger dual coil head.....that was some work. Came out great, hit like a beast.

looks like a lot wire, if your running that much wire you need a lot of air flow around the coil to keep it cool. are you packing cotton under the coil? this would prevent air from flowing around the entire coil. have you tried tail piping it? (hitting it with out a drip it) do this very carefully, take a smallish slow and quick hit with out the drip tip. if that goes well work your way up. if its wicked hot still then you know that your wick to wire to airflow ratio is off.

That would be a problem that sorts itself out fairly quickly.....

I stay away from parallel and wrapped wire builds, as I don't like a super warm vape. As they taught me in my Marine days, I use the KISS method........keep it simple stupid

Lol. True. I've dropped the voltage to 3.8 and after letting it burn off some of the fluid it's doing pretty good. Not quite the vapor production I was expecting but it's hitting nice and I can do 10+second pulls with no issues. Maybe I should just go to bed lol.

Do yourself a favor and try a standard dual coil build, at around .65 ohms, and compare the vapor from that to what you are getting now

So today I picked up some 80/20 and it is perfect. Lots of vapor and tons of flavor with no burning what do ever. Thanks for all the input friends.
