I believe you may have overfilled your cart and flooded your atty. That would be the reason for eliquid getting in your mouth. Also, it sounds like you have an automatic, which i don't believe dripping is good for. Don't hang on my thoughts because i too have tried to restuff/refill my first cart recently and failed. I still don't know why mine did.
Yes, i believe i flooded my atty. I am using the Volcano Magma 510, which has an automatic battery. I guess i just have to put significantly less than i thought i could put in. Anyone have any ideas/mods i could use to add more? Id like not have to fill cartridges everyday. With the stock cartridges, i go through about 2 per day.
Well, regardless, i think it is best to not smoke the carts dry, and just top them off every couple hours or so. I've heard great things about the blue foam mod which i am trying to figure out.

slide the top of the cartridge off and clean out the inner grooves.
also when you refill it, you can top off, or take out the filter but only add 4 drops or so or will overfill once you put the filler back in.

I am having a similar issue! I have the magma as well and I was just getting good with pg when I had an order of liquid thats half pg and vg come in. I am finding I have to pull much harder and I am getting much more liquid in my mouth! What kind of liquid are you using? I wonder if there is something different I should be doing with this thicker liquid...
Welcome, I use mostly VG and with me,,,,I find I have to clean out my attys at least once a week and let them stand on end overnight...Then I do a quick "dry" burn a few seconds, and then put two drops in the atty, fill my cart and I am good to go....So far, this is working for me....Enjoy and good luck..
The issue you are having with difficulty filling your carts is addressed by many of the mods listed throughout the forums. I personally use a straw mod with great success. Basically, find the smallest stirrer straw you can, cut one end at angle, and insert it inside your cart alongside the wick. Trim it to length. The straw provides air flow to the bottom of the cartridge, making it both easier to fill and providing a more consistent flow of juice to your atty. Also, when your atty floods as it has been, remove it fromthe cart and battery and blow the excess juice out into a tissue. Once it's totally flooded you will keep getting juice in your mouth until you empty it.
How much juice can a dry 510 hold? does that volume change if it's blue foam cart?
I got the same problem, just got my joye 510 and some blank carts. I must have overfilled because I got liquid in my mouth and it was hard to get anythin out of it. I took it back apart and blew thru my atty and liquid started spraying out. LOL but after that it seemed to work fine. Damn the 510 is awesome!! How much juice should you put in??
Something else that can help, when you refill, pull the insert out of the cart and use a q-tip and clean out the mouthpiece. Then before you re-assemble wipe down the insert and clean the grooves like davidsipes said.
I fill mine to the level of the "vents" on the outside, maybe a drop more. In my mind, it's better to underfill than overfill. I hate blowing perfectly good e-liquid into a kleenex or paper towel.
Or you could try the opposite direction and use less liquid. After weeks of trial and error I've found that what works best for me is a clean cart with new filler. I usually put 2 drops on my filler so it just pools at the top and then 2 drops on the atomizer. Kind of the drip, cartridge combo. hav eto do it alot but I don't mind. When the polyfil gets too wet, I just toss and add more. Hey, don't give up, me and my friends all vape and everyone of us has a different style. For some, they like to fill and go while others, myself included have spent hours tinkering around. It's my new hobby.
Instead of wiping out overfilled carts w/ kleenex/qtips/etc- couldn't one use a glass dropper, compress the filler medium so that juice is squeezed out, collect that juice via glass dropper for later use, and then wipe any xtra with the now non-saturated filler medium?
just an idea, maybe it doesnt work that way, and I'm putting the cart before the horse... still waiting for my rig, but every time I read someone wiping up e-juice with a disposable medium, I imagine $$$'s getting flushed.
