I have a atlantis now with a cf sub ohm battery which is good down to .3 ohms. I'd like to get a rda to use when I'm home and use the atlantis when I'm out and about to save me some cash on buying coils for that beast.

I'm a noob to this but I've read everything, understand ohms law, I'll be buying a ohm meter when I buy the rda locally also.

I'd like something that is a little less prone to leak, produces great flavor, decent clouds and easy for a noob to build on.
I also need to know what gauge kanthal i should get and what kind of coils to try to build.

I have a bunch of drill bits and screwdrivers so I'll have the right size for whatever coil just need some help with what generally works good or you guys.

The local shops have these rda's in stock

Darkhorse v2 clone
Mutation x v1 and v2
Tugboat v2 clone
Tobh clone
Plume veil 1.5 clone
doge clone

Thanks in advance, just need a little advice

Plume Veil. That was my favorite dripper before I knew anything else. Still use it. Very nice to build, does everything you could want for a long while, the clone is cheap. That'd be my choice among what you listed.

The others are good, but a bit different from your stated parameters. A few of them are pure cloud chuckers. (Read: Dark Horse, Mutation X). Think you'd like the PV.

However, I have noticed Plume Veils leak out the little holes right after dripping. Very annoying.

No leaks, great flavor, easy to build , nice clouds.....

Manta or the marquis.

The ones you listed are more for cloud chasing.

I didn't mention magma or veritas because magma can be very leaky and the veritas isn't easy to build, but those are the best attys for flavor.

About the kanthal gauge, depends on what you like, I advise you to start with 28 and 26. I use this gauges and I make coils from 0.6 to 1.5 ohms.

My first rda was the mutation x and i love it i just bought a competition doge and got the competition drip top for it also pretty amazing. My choice would be one of those i hear lots of good about the plume veil also but personally i wont buy clones of any of those and the doge is pretty decent priced as it is for a shop to be selling clones of it. The mutation x v2 is good with the split post flavor is a lil more muted than the v1.

I'd second the plume veil. It's less leaky now that I stuffed some wick (rayon) in the negative-post airholes. I'm using chuff enuff style caps to get the airflow back (listed on Fasttech as tobh 2-in-1 driptip/topcap). It's tiny as far as 22mm drippers go, so the small chamber leads to better flavor and vapor density, IMO.

I really like the plume veil, and the only other RDA listed that I own is the tobh. It's nice, but the airflow control tabs make it annoying to use. I put one build in it, and haven't touched it after the first few days.

Rocking a Stillare and Plume Veil currently, although I'm interested in a good deal of vapor.

Well I'm pretty much done with this atlantis now. I haven't been able to have a coil last me longer then 4 days without getting gunked up so bad that it tastes burnt. I've been thru 3 coils in 12 days, $15 in less then 2 weeks on coils is just stupid and not cost effective at all.

So I need to buy a rda today locally and it's gotta be one of the ones I listed. I really like the atlantis but I can't sit here and go thru coils like that. All the juice i vape is sweet so it's going to gunk up any coil at least with a rda I'll be able to replace the coil for next to nothing cost wise.

Prices are
plume veil $26.99
Tugboat v1 $20
tugboat v2 $22
mutation x v1 $20
mutation x v2 $25
darkhorse $25

I'm on YouTube now watching videos

Still say the Plume Veil. :)

I still agree :) I've got a 0.44 ohm dual 26ga build in mine that's "best in class" at that resistance.

I will say the tugboat v1 isn't bad for what it is: a basic no-frills 3-post RDA with a picture of a tugboat on it. I only have experience with the v1 (the GF uses one, not me), but doesn't have have airflow control, just airholes. The flavor is pretty good, there isn't a ton of airflow, but enough for decent lung hits. The v2 has twice as many airholes, but is presumably non-adjustable as well.

But if I had to choose one, it'd be plume veil. Hell, if I could get two of the above, I'd double down and get two PV's (ok, no, I personally would get either mutX or Darkhorse second, but the PV is that good, IMO. I'd like a copper one, now that I think about it...). It was leaky at first, but plugging the holes + getting some experience using it, it only leaks when I drop it or other dumb things.

The mutX's I hear great things about, but mostly from cloud chasers at very low resistances, for what it's worth. Similarly for the Darkhorse and Doge, but I have 0 experience with any of them.

by the prices you have listed these are all clones, therefore you have to take the manufacturer into consideration. that's going to add another dimension to your search. if you are looking at video's from an authentic and buy a clone you MAY be surprised with the usability and performance of what you get as opposed to what you saw or read. that said, i would find out who makes the ones you are interested in and then try to find out what those that actually use that particular rda opinions are. good luck.

After looking everything over and talking to the owner of the store i ended up with the mutation x v1. It has a nice and deep juice well so i shouldn't over fill it, the airflow on max is crazy, huge clouds and muted flavor, i tightened the airflow and got much better flavor. Better then i get on the atlantis.

i am pleased with my purchase. Most importantly I'm not going to be spending $5 on coils all the time which is the main reason i wanted a rda.

I looked at the plume veil and it didn't have a name on it anywhere and they didn't have a box for it. The machining was really bad, it had burrs inside and the threads for the screws was terrible. The darkhorse looked good but it was $20 more because they only had the one with the different drip tip and adapter. The only tug boat they had was a display and i couldn't buy that anyways.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'm sure I'll be buying more rda's as time goes on and this should be a good starter for me. Oh and BTW my juice tastes so much better then it did in the atlantis
