Hello everyone I recently received my first rda the steamboat (tugboat v2 clone) and I am vapeing it on a Hana DNA30 using 26 guage kanthal. My question is when I installed my duel coil build and tried to fire it my coils did not glow red they just produced a thin smoke (no juice or wick) it also takes quite Awhile for the juice to start vaporizing but once it dose it hits like a train. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me why it's taking so long for the juice to start vaporizing and why my coils don't heat up red when I dry burn them. Help would be greatly appreciated. Ps my build isn't bad very tight wraps.

Pictures are always helpful. and as previous poster said - How many wraps, how many ohms, how many watts?

26ga is a thicker wire/ lower gauge / less resistance/ wire and as such it takes longer to heat than say 28ga. resistance causes friction, friction causes heat. Thinner wire means smaller coil given the same resistance target. A smaller coil will give a more dense heat given the same wattage. More wattage pumped through the wire means higher heat. more surface area at the right temperature means more vapor.
It's all about balance :)

build higher. - more wraps and/or larger inner diameter (which you didnt list). You dont have to go super low on a regulated mod - infact it doesnt make since because you can't push the MOD as hard.. Learn ohms law (or atleast the principles, and use steam-engine.org in practice).
.4ohms at 30w gives you 3.5 (ish) volts. fresh batteries push 4.2(ish)v.
.8ohms at 30w gives you 4.9v - so a hotter vape: coils heat faster and to a higher temperature.

WOW, that's a pretty loaded question...
What does your ohm meter read ?

Well seeing as your using a 30w device to fire a device that is .1 ohms lower than what I am using, on a Sigeli 100w box and I run a .5 ohm at 45w. I would say your trying to make a Yugo into a Ferrari. I would suggest building at a higher ohm, say around .8 ohms or higher for 26 gauge.

Basically you don't have the power pushing thru that is needed for such a low ohm build. Look at an ohms law calc and you will see at 30w, your max, your only using 3.46v. Basically the output of an ego battery almost drained.

Thanks for the help that makes a lot more scene.
