I play guitar and set in with a local band once a month or so. Just a small thing with 30-50 people usually with 6-10 band members. They've always allowed smoking in the building until the last few weeks. They banned smoking for a good reason, the proprietor has COPD really bad and isn't doing really well.

So tonight was my first time since they banned smoking in the building. After the first set I asked the owners wife if she minded me using my e-cig in the building while we were playing on stage. She had no problem what so ever with it. She even asked about getting her and her husband one since he was off cigs but really wanting one, and she was afraid he was going to start back to smoking.

So one band member came up to me and gave me a little flack, about man made chemicals and such...I just told him I tired everything to quit, and I felt this was a lot healthier than smoking regular cigs. No one else had an issue or said anything except one guy. He tried it and told the owner he needed to get him one of these, so I take it he liked it.

So overall I'd say a positive experience, and I can vape on stage now in a non smoking area.

Cool with me...David

Now there's a story with a good ending.

One question is, the one who gave you a little "flack" about vaping, is that guy a smoker or former smoker? The reason I ask is that I have not run across one person who never smoked in their life who was anything but 100% positive about PV's. The only ones who have given me a hard time are those who either currently smoke or even more so, the "former-smokers".

Congrats on making the world 1% better by introducing e-cigs to a man who desperately needs nicotine, lol. I tried to be in a band once, but my persistant chain-smoking halted much of the song writing progress, lol. I get strange stares from people when vaping.... kinda entertaining though, with all of the mothers pulling their children away from the "smoke". People in Old Navy are strange creatures....

Which Reminds me... Ron White smokes on stage. I don't think people cares because they love him. But would be cool if he goes on stage....

Ron: takes a sip of his drink and pulls out a e-cig "you know I got tired of lighting my smokes" takes a few puffs "this is the electric cig... has anyone seen these things? the only problem I seem to have is flicking it in the toilet and it doesn't seem to work anymore"

Wishful thought.... but a nice one.

There is so much in the news all the time in this state concerning people trying to force all bars to go non-smoking. They have succeeded everywhere else, now they are working on the bars.

I was just thinking today that some of the bars could post "e-smoking only" signs and make a small fortune selling the kits and juices in their bars. If enough of them did it, maybe the subject of forcing them all to go non-smoking would drop.

Hello vapers! I'd like to post a report of my first time going out with friends and vaping. A great experience!
I've been vaping (in between smoking real cigs) for a couple of months. Tonight I went out pub-hopping with friends in Portland. One is a former smoker, the other three always hated smoking. They were all very intrigued with my e-cig.
At first, they couldn't believe that there is no tobacco smoke or lingering odor. By the second time I vaped, they were totally impressed that this purple glowing stick replaced the cigs I used to smoke. At the end of the evening, they all thought that the FDA should get on board to approve e-cigs.
This was such a victory since my oldest, best friend of the group is 100% anti-tobacco and smoking. Her mother died of lung cancer from smoking. Tonight, I could see how pleased she was with the vaping.
It was great to be out with friends, have my nicotine hit, and not do anything smelly or offensive. Not once did I wish for a tobacco smoke.
I'm posting in case there are skeptical people surfing the e-cigarette forum. Smoking tobacco has been a problem for me since I was 16 years old (I'm 51). Vaping seems like a way out. I want the FDA to approve it! It's crazy if they don't.

ecbush congrats! and wow that's a long time on analogs! (real cigarettes). It's sometimes challenging to explain to non-smoker friends especially when they believe everything on t.v. or what the FDA believes in.

See what I don't understand. I can understand not smoking in restaurants (food, blah blah blah issues ok) but if I'm not mistaken, you must be 21 and older in the U.S. to be in a bar (well most places anyways).

I see that people who made huge efforts (and succeeded) to quit smoking are very 'negative' about this e-cigs; to me it looks like they're just thinking "Grr! I suffered so much! ..and Now they come with this brilliant thingie?! If only i could have had one when i tried quitting.. grr!". BTW although I happily-immediately switched to ecigs (3 days after) I still have no idea how easy could it be "actually quitting" nicotine... but sure an e-cig will help in the process, rather than quitting roughly.

Yeah I have been wondering about vaping in the church bathroom...lol

last sunday, my hubby took his new e-cig to church to show everyone :D

he didn't use it during the service but he did at the coffee hour afterwards. he started smoking when he was a kid; the other church people were thrilled that he has something now to help him quit!

Oh, hrm... good idea. Since it would involve profit for the bars in question, I could see them supporting it. Just a matter of getting the city to cooperate.

I fear, though, that anti-smoking folks would argue that it's just another type of smoking, etc... Dunno, but I do like your thought.:)

That is positively brilliant... I might have to talk to some of the bars around here about that...

That is a great idea, except the only problem is some owners might be afraid of losing their bars over it I guess.

But it doesn't hurt to try!
