im lucky as i am allowed to vape in my office. my fellow coworkers and managers see it to be interesting and harmless. thats because there smart.

Hmmm.... I wonder if you could vape Hooters Hot Wing Sauce. My eyes water at the thought.
I don't vape in Naples or Fort Myers restaurants...
Unless it's a quick stealth puff in the rest rooms.
On another note, had problems in Ft Myers airport the other day.
Bloody TSI had never seen a chuck and wanted to confiscate it.
I told them i would rather poke sharp needles in my eyes and tap dance on one foot before giving up my chuck to them.
After 20 minutes of arguing, they let me through.
The agent claimed "he had never seen an e cig like this". I told them that they should look online since there are many other models they have never seen before.
Anyway, i think the hooters manager and this TSI guy should meet up. At least we know there are two ......s in SWF.

Wow alot of people seem to be afraid of vaping in public places. I'm bold and unapologetic about what I'm doing. I think the best thing you can do to not confuse people about what you are doing is to not have a pv that looks like a real cig. Mine is a dull copper 510 with a red LED, I've had alot of people ask me what it is I was puffing on, but I've never had anyone assume that I was smoking.
If you want people to be comfortable with e-cigs get one that DOESN'T look like an analog, don't ask if you can, and don't be stealthy. Always reffer to an e-cig as a personal vaporizer when asked about it. However be polite if asked not to vape in said establishment. It may be legal to vape in a public place, but it's still a private business, and most will kick out someone rude who blows vapor in their face.

Agree with not using a pv that looks like a stink stick, being polite if asked to cease vaping and not vaping in someone's face. Disagree with being bold and unapologetic. Conspicuously blowing vapor in a public place with no smoking signs posted is confrontational and asking for trouble. It's also a tad self centered and immature, IMO. A handful or two of people pulling a 'nyah nyah nyah nyah' routine will ruin it for everyone.
I agree there. Many places you can smoke in bars but not elsewhere. However, I'm moving to somewhere that doesn't allow smoking in bars or clubs, so I'd like the option. Drinking around smokers is what got me started smoking again after I'd quit, so I know that if I'm drinking, it's a really good idea for me to have something or I'm likely to end up out on the smoking porch bumming an analog.

Hopefully at some point soon we won't have to make all sorts of excuses & such, but I'm all for avoiding conflict. For me, being polite trumps "Ahhh my right to vape is being violated! I must protest!" I've always been a polite smoker too. I ask people if they are bothered by my smoke & will move away if necessary. And if there are children around, I don't even ask, I just get some distance.
If someone's first exposure to a PV is a conflict, that's what they are going to remember & will be more likely to have a knee-jerk objection in the future. Seriously... blowing vapor in someone's face? Seen a number of people talk about that & I'm kinda shocked. That's just so incredibly rude & childish. Okay, great, you proved that it wasn't cigarette smoke. Do you think that person is going to suddenly go "Oh, gosh, I was so wrong?!" No, they're just going to think you're rude. And next time they see someone vaping they'll have a prejudice.
My current PV looks like a cig (until my 510 gets here) & I've regretted that decision once I started reading here. Yes, you can get black cigarettes or colored ones, but I think if you have a differently colored LED, it's obvious that what you have isn't a cig. I'm pretty sure no one is going to mistake a purple LED for a lit cig.
I know people feel strongly about this, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just try to keep cool when dealing with the public. Politeness benefits us all & helps open minds. Rudeness makes things harder for all of us.

Edit: Also, forgot to add... The word does seem to be getting out there regarding PVs even if people don't know the details. Have mentioned e-smoking to a few people & they all just kind of went "Oh, yeah, I've heard about that." No one was like... "OMG bizarre!" I think most people are interested in the idea & are probably for anything that's not a cig, but people who have to enforce no-smoking areas just don't know how to deal with it yet. Even if they are intrigued, they may feel a conflict about doing their job & err on the side of caution.
