First timer just decided on what to start with - one last question before I order it.

Hey everyone. Thanks to everyone in the new member forum, I've decided to go with an eGo model (it's not a joyetech, but I decided on a knockoff for my first go because I get more for less money). Anyway, here is the kit eGo Vision Stardust & Extreme Vision Custom Kit 1100mAh Black or Silver. Anyway, since I'm new I wanted to order some cartos just to see what they were like, and after watching some reviews on youtube I decided to order these Smoktech Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Black 5 pack. Anyway, my question is this: Are these OK to use with a regular, non-variable, 1100mAh battery? A couple of things I read say that dual coil cartomizers work better at higher voltages. To be clear, I don't care if they don't produce massive vapour, but I just want them to work OK and not damage my batteries. If I stick with vaping (I'm doing this to try to break my dependence on tobacco BTW) I'll probably buy some kind of variable-voltage device up sooner rather than later, but I just don't want to invest more than $100 up front (including a couple of weeks worth of e-juice, in 2-3 different flavours).

So what do you think? Will those cartos be OK to use on those batteries? Thanks!

Looks good. I like canvape. I personally have avoided DCs so far, but I'm not sure if they would damage a batt. What I do heartily reccommend is these Smoktech 1.7 Single Coil Cartomizer 5 Pack Stainless It's all I use now. Good luck and happy vaping.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did look at those, but the disclaimer on canvape ("These have been brought in for Veteran ECF'ers and if you don't know if your device is ok to use them you shouldn't be.") kinda put me off choosing those ones. Any idea what that warning is about?

In my experience. No. Throwing a dual coil on a plain ego is just going to sputter. From my understanding of dual coils the voltage has to be split to each coil so on a 3.7v battery ur gonna get like 1.8v to each coil. That ain't much.

Fair enough. Glad I have ECF to clear that sort of thing up for me :).

site says "Single coil not recommended for mosfet driven batteries."
Found this in another thread, full props to Hoogie76 (Hope he doesn't mind me pasting here)
"The disclaimer, although a bit dated is still somewhat accurate.. What used to happen, when the first LR atties came out at 1.7 ohms was that every once in a while one would come in at 1 ohm or less and this was right about the time the eGo's came out.. The 1 ohm atties were high enough resistance to not trip the short circuit protection of the mosfet in the eGo batteries but it was low enough to take out the mosfet with a little poof of smoke

After getting some complaints of 'your atomizer took out my eGo batteries', the policy was born.. But the out of date part is that atties/cartos are much better in quality than the original lr's and the eGo and clones are much better at handling a bad LR atty or carto than they used to be BUT not all batteries are created equal and a LR atty that is too low in resistance still has a good chance of taking out any mosfet driven battery.."

That makes sense... Thanks! Do you know if that would apply to the dual coil cartos that I linked in my original post?

You know what I just looked at those and seems ppl are having success with them on an ego. Those are different from the dual coil I have tried. Hmmm crap now I'm gonna have to look into the whole dual coil thing again.

They are way more expensive than the other cartos on the site - $15 for 5 vs $6, so I assumed they would be "decent quality" (whatever that means). Good reviews on youtube at least, even on a plain eGo battery. That being said, I don't want to ruin my battery in a month by making a noob mistake.
