This is my first post, having read around for the past two weeks. I completely jumped from 1.5 packs of Marlboro Lights a day to zero on Monday. Much to my surprise, my 510 made this very easy. I'm getting frustrated with how quickly I'm burning through these batteries, and how quickly the atomizer gets HOT. I'm planning on getting some ego batteries. If anyone has a recommendation on what I can do about the atomizer, I would appreciate it!!

Get an ego twist and use cartos unless you really want to use an atty.. At high voltages I found that everything gets hot (just got my twist today, been experimenting). I love the twist though so far, inexpensive, and you really don't need to go higher than 4.8 volts unless you have very high ohm cartos. Ego batteries are generally 650 - 1100 mah so will last much longer than the standard 510. Hope this helps I am somewhat of a newb myself :)

Welcome to ECF 954interisti
Yea, the 510 batteries are good, and yes, the time of usage is short, and yea, the attys can get hot...

Sounds like you are doing some chain vaping, are you sure that your nic is at the right level for your needs ? Are you vaping more than you smoked ?
I started out with 2 510 batteries myself and within a week ordered 3 more. A PCC came with my original kit so I was ok for on the go.
Even still after about a month I bought an eGo kit.

If you are gonna chain vape, you might want to have a couple setups in front of you so that you can rotate them - that will help keep the attys from getting so hot.

The eGo will help too for vaping time, but chain vaping makes the attys hot.

Best of luck to you and congratulations on your new journey !

Welcome and congrats on your success so far. That's awesome!!!

I've been at it 9 months and still get frustrated with the gear or juice at times. I just look for a way to address the frustration and the next thing I know I'm back in my happy vaping place. :)

The way that I've handled the hot carto/attie/clearo issue is to use anywhere from 3 to 5 batts at a time. If I'm chain vaping I just switch to a different one when one gets hot.

Best wishes for continued success on your vaping journey. Keep hanging out here and asking questions. You'll get all the support you'll need.

I agree with mileshs95, Batteries that last are key. Get a couple of Ego Twist Batteries, Some standard resistance cartomizers, Maybe a couple of clearomizers if you want. (maybe 2.4 - 2.8ohms) And some sample packs of juice from different venders. At least that will get you by while you are learning terms and equipment you may want in the future. Most important... dont give up.. I am a newbie myself.. about two months now. Congrats on deciding to make the switch. No matter what stage you are in, we are all going through the same issues. Some in front of you, some behind you...

When choosing the size of battery a general guide of how long they will last is every 100mA will give you 1hr, so a 650mAh battery will last 6.5hrs and a 1000mAh 10hrs. As far as atomisers go they all run warm because of the coil inside heating up to vaporise the juice but if they are running on the dry side will get hot to the touch especially if housed in a metal cap

Welcome to the ECF from right up the road in Coral Springs. It does sound like you are chain vaping, which is fairly normal for your first week or two off cigs, especially from 1.5 packs a day. +1 on looking into an eGo and +1 on making sure your nic level is high enough. You should be using at least 18mg to start.

By the way, be sure to check out the Florida Vapers Forum for info on the September 30th meet in Fort Lauderdale. There are usually a lot of good people there and you will have the chance to try some different things.

I'm sure you're going to get a ton of advice on how/what/etc. I started with a Blu (similar to a 510) and came to hate it. Cartridges leaked or didn't get enough juice to the atty, didn't last worth a damn, the battery went out in no time and the vapor was cold.

I've done some experimenting - but nothing like some of the folks here as I like to keep it simple and just use what works. I've settled on my current setup because it meets those needs. The battery lasts a good long time (even with chain vaping) and depending on the juice I don't deal with heat/burnt taste all too often.

Folks above are recommending the Ego-C Twist - I'll second that, however I'll throw in the 1100mah Ego-VV (Variable Voltage) as well. I got mine from BetterVapes.com. Compared to your 510 this thing is super long, but it lasts and lasts. I've paired that up with rebuildable CE5+ Clearomizers (again from bettervapes.com or many other sites). They don't leak, easy to fill, have good warmth and are super simple to replace the coil on - not to mention the coil is cheap.

Anyway, stick with it. It's a process. You'll have days you hate it, and days you can't imagine going back to analogs.

Far as I'm concern I've never been bought with the mini E-Cigs, least not after viewing tons of videos and research on them, and watching my friend use prosmokes, he pretty much has to refill it every 1-2 hours and the batteries just die out so fast. I'm currently using 18650 Batteries in my Provari that're 2000mAh, I go through 3-4ml of liquid a day and these batteries last the entire day.

WOW! I put the tablet down for a few hours to help the wife with a very agitated newborn, and come back to all these replies! This community rocks! Thanks for all the welcomes and advice. I've definitely been chain vaping. I've been using 18mg juice. After reading these replies I think I'll scoop up an ego battery or three and a few cartomizers. Thanks for all the advice!!

I also chain vape sometimes, I like my ego with cartomizers or my vision clearomizer. Some liquids taste better/worse in each setup. I also agree that it helps to have more than one setup in front of you especially if your using 510's I never had much luck with them. I havent tried the variable voltage batteries yet, seems too complicated to me.

Welcome to another Floridian! It sounds like you've already made a great start, and you're having the same issue I had when I started with my 901 kit. I agree with others about the eGo Twist batteries as the next stage, and for business end (the juice delivery system) I recommend the Vision 2.0, ViVi Nova, or Kanger T2 clearomizers. This setup is quite possibly the easiest as far as maintenance and refilling goes, and won't cost you a lot of money up front.

I also agree with Jett on the Provari (w/ 18650 extension) and possibly a carto tank, but that can come later down the road. I have both the eGo Twist setup with the Kanger T2s that I take with me to work and other places, and the Provari with a Phiniac tank that I use at home and at friends houses. Both work great and I am quite content with each of them for their purpose.

I remember when 510's first came out and they were the most recommended device on the market. Then the ego's came out and people love them. Me not so much. They are just another disposable battery to me. I suppose the twist is a step up but still disposable. When the battery dies and it will, it's going in the recycle bin.

I know this goes against what many people say but it's honestly the advice I wish I had received when I started.

Go with a true APV a big battery mod. Like the lava tube or if you have the money the Provari. In the long run it will save you money and make it more likely that you will quit for good. Too many people last about 6 months and then when something breaks or they have one of those days when they just can't get anything to work they go buy a pack and that is it.

Anything that uses an 18650 battery will last all day without having to replace no matter how much you chain vape. Add a vivi nova to that and you have great flavor all day long as well.

Something like this would do the trick. Variable Voltage 1.5 Mod Kit - Smoke Anywhere For Penny's, LLC Store

If you are not interested in variable voltage and are really on a budget try this. (17 bucks), get your vivi nova, batteries and charger from Got Vapes)

Like I said this is not going to be the most popular advice, but it is what I wish I had been told from day one. It takes so much of the frustration out of the equation and who needs frustration when you are trying to quit cigs?

If you stick with little batteries you will get frustrated, if you get frustrated you might holler at your boss, if you holler at your boss you might get fired, if you get fired you might end up homeless, if you end up homeless you might have to sell your blood for a pack of smokes. Don't sell your blood for a pack of smokes, buy a big battery mod.

Ps buy back ups for your backups and never run out of juice, order everything well in advance. Redundancy is your friend.

I started with the Smokeless Image Volts. They worked, and convinced me that vaping would get me off of the cigarettes, but I quickly got frustrated with needing to change batteries every 3-4 hrs. Oh, and don't get lazy and forget to charge them and end up with no charged batteries to vape on. Same with juice - don't run out. No batteries or no juice = no vaping.

I made the choice to get two big battery mods. A Silver Bullet and BB. I thought it made much more sense in the long run to buy a durable tube mod that can last years as opposed to the ego batteries that are only designed to last a few months. The rechargable batteries for the tube mods should last a year.

I can also put much larger capacity tanks on the mods and not need to refill them for days. (I've gradually accumulated a large number of tanks over time, each with differnent flavors)

The 14500 batteries for the BB are small (AA size) and a couple in a plastic battery case easily fit in a pants pocket. The 900 mah batteries last me almost all day. The little BB hits just as hard as its bigger brother, but it small size makes it less conspicuous and easier to have out and about. I have a leather lanyard from Serenity Gear for it which allows it to hang around my neck hands free.

The Silver Bullet uses 18650 batteries and easily last me all day and into the next. That's a 7ml tank on it.

Yeah, perhaps these are not as pocket friendly as an ego would be, however I've been known to put both into a front pocket of some cargo shorts or pants. Generally they go into an ego carrying case, which has room for extra batteries and whatever device you vaporize your juices. That case goes into my small shoulder bag which I carry with me to work or travel. (a Swiss gear computer case with shoulder strap) It has room for another organizer case for my carto and clearo tanks, my I-Pod gear, and phone.

I've also added a Provari to the family, which is everything other Provari owners say. As they say, if I knew back when what I know now...I'd have gotten the Provari in the beginning.

Get yourself some ego Twist batteries, charger, couple box of Boge cartomizers, and a drip tip.
