Two weeks ago I tried my first ecig. I always thought they were a scam aimed at manipulating smokers. Once I gave it a shot I realized it hit the spot and vaping has it's own merits.
I did my research. I looked at both sides of the argument. To be honest I'm still skeptical about the long term results since there aren't any yet. I'm also not doing this to swear off traditional smokes. I just like having the option of vaping over smoking. Most of all I wanna taste some juice.
I looked through reviews of different brands. I noticed the big, expensive Maglight style batteries with convoluted names were popular. I wanted something that cost as much as a carton of smokes and the size of a traditional. Ease of use was my top priority So I went for the g6.

Once it came in the mail it worked like a charm right out of the box. I got an automatic and a manual. I'm glad I got one of each because they both have mutually exclusive shortcomings as I learned over the course of a week.

Manual-I have to work pretty hard in order to get a decent cloud of vapor. The juice lasts way longer and the flavor is always mellow. The throat hit leaves something to be desired. It's best when the battery has a full charge.

Automatic-This friggin thing kicks out the fog. I can hold it between my lips and puff away with no problem. It just burns at such a high voltage it makes everything taste like battery and rubber. It can be unbearable on a full charge when the cartomizer isn't soaked in fluid.

Now onto the Juices I got from Halo. I ordered Tribeca in the prefilled cartomizers and they threw in a free 10ml bottle of 3 week old Voodoo.

Tribeca-I don't know where they get off calling it tobacco flavored as it tastes like cotton candy and peanut brittle. With that said it's pretty fuggin tasty. Great with a cup of coffee. Great with a glass of whiskey. Not so good with a soda pop and totally gross with a glass of lemonaide or margaritas as I found out the first night these came in.

Voodoo-Good friggin stuff. Not great with coffee, but it goes with soda. So I switch flavors back and fourth.

Like I said earlier I'm not committing to cutting out traditionals entirely. If I really really want one I'll have one. I'm just trying to see if I can replace the habbit.
DAY 0: two packs
DAY 1: Half a pack
DAY 2-4: One pack
DAY 5-6: 3 cigs
Today: 0

I have finally got in the rhythm of switching batteries at the right time and topping off cartomizers. I have a backlog of juices from Backwoods Brew and Mt Baker steeping. Now I know why variable voltage, clearomizers and tanks are all the rage. I'm not going to reinvest in a new system just yet. I'm going to see what I can do about upgrading the set up I got.

About the G6

1. When using the manual battery, make sure you push the button before, not when, you draw.
2. With an auto battery, you tend to draw naturally right away. With the manual, I've notice people for some reason draw too fast/hard, so try paying attention and setting if you're doing that.
3. Try their LR cartos for better performance (at the cost of a bit less battery life)
4. Halo's Belgian Coca is the best chocolate e liquid you can buy, if you like chocolate.
5. You may prefer the halo mini tanks if you like vapor production.

When you do invest in a new system, if you don't go right to an APV, and instead a mid sized, go with the Triton (they have VV version now). Great performance, and you can use the cartos and mini tanks from the G6 on it.

Thanks man. I was under the impression the triton didn't have variable voltage. Does it fit with the g6 charger?
Trying the button technique. I'll have to experiment. Still getting weak vapor.

The VV Triton is new. Only a month or so old. I don't remember if the Triton charger is compatible with the G6 or vice versa but the site tells you.

As for weak vapor, make sure you aren't drawing to fast, slow/medium steady draw tends to be best across all devices in my experience. Also, make sure your battery is charged. It does weaken the vapor as it gets lower.

Hey Kirkus, I just got started with G6 as well, and I'm loving it. The only thing I don't like is the manual battery. I have already ordered a spare auto so I can always have a fresh one. I think I'll just keep the manual as a back up.

Right now I have the menthol ice carts, the sample of Voodoo and I also got a mini tank to try out, though I haven't yet. I intend to experiment with it this weekend. Along with the extra auto bat I ordered I also ordered blank carts, a bottle of Malibu and Cafe Mocha, I'm hoping it all arrives today!

I haven't smoked analogs in over three years, and in that time I have tried various different ecigs, so far the G6 is the winner by far. I really have no interest in moving up to mods or other elaborate set ups. I just like a nice portable system I can pull out and take a puff on occasionally.

I'm glad to hear others give a thumbs up to G6, I don't see much out there about them, and I really think they are a quality product for people who really just want a simple but reliable cig a like.

I started out with a G6, and have since graduated to a Vision Spinner and clearos. However, I think the G6 is a quality product for it's class. I still keep mine charged up and use the cartos for those juices that are known to crack the plastic clearomizers. Tribeca is my favorite juice overall, and I love Kringle's Curse and Malibu. Just made an order, so I'm anxious to try the sample of Voodoo.

Do not use the G6 charger with the Triton batteries. It may ruin the battery (get the Triton charger, but the wall wart is compatible). Check the FAQ on the Halo site. The Triton batteries are great. I have 4-1300 mah Triton batts, I'm very happy with them, they last a long time and kick out some good vapor with their tanks. The mini tanks work with them as well, although I use the E-smart clearos from Vapor Kings with them for testing flavors to make sure they aren't coil killers. Good luck with your new vaping adventures.

Deanacal, maybe you can answer a question I have about the G6 batteries. Is there a limited amount of standby life for them? Or will they hold a full charge indefinitely until you start using them? I don't use mine at all during the workday, so if I take a couple of fully charged batteries and throw them in my purse, but don't use them for 10 hours or so, have they lost any charge during that time? I know mine seem to work fine when I get off work and vape on the way home, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're still fully charged.

And also, does anyone know if you can over-charge them? I usually charge mine at night when I sleep but I want to know if thats detrimental to the life of the battery. I have checked the website but didn't see info on either of these questions, only info about battery life while actually using it. It also says it usually takes two hours to charge, but doesn't state if charging it longer is harmful.

Bought the G6 on July 6th and loving it so far (I also bought one manual and one automatic battery, but think it will be all autos from here on out). I have to agree with you about Tribeca - to me it tastes like caramel and doesn't have a hint of tobacco, but I enjoyed vaping it. Voodoo tastes like an oatmeal cookie to me. If you're looking for something more tobacco-y from Halo, so far the Turkish Tobacco and Torque 56 are the most authentic flavors I've tried, though very different from an analog. The Prime 15 tastes a bit like hazelnut, though it's a good overall vape. I'll be trying a few of their other tobacco flavors (Freedom and Longhorn), but right now I mostly use Turkish.

Also, the mini tanks are definitely worth a try. The cartos seem to give a smoother and more mellow draw, but the tanks give you tons of vapor and LOTS of flavor (with the added bonus of being able to see how much juice you have left).

Cheers!

I think we have a concensus. The g6 is bad .... At least the automatic battery is.

Yes that's the downside of all lithium ion batteries. I doubt anything immediate, but it will eat into it's life span. I personally unplug anything once it's fully charged.
NEVER start a car with anything plugged into the charger. The higher the voltage the bigger the risk. I know it was the cause of one e cigar battery exploding.

Too bad the chargers are incompatible. The expenses of buying the tritan piece meal adds up.
Triton vv battery: $30
Triton Tank: $7
Triton charger: $7
Grand total: $44
vs
g6 starter kit: $45

Not saying it isn't worth it. I'm just going to get my money's worth out of the g6 kit first.
So far I'm already spending more on e cigs than I did on traditionals. I just bought $50 worth of juice. So all together I'm $100 in the hole.

The amount of charge they will lose in that time frame is nearly meaningless...

No, under normal circumstances you can not overcharge them because the charger is designed to prevent that.

However, if the charger is not working properly, you not only WILL overcharge the batteries, but then you will have a real problem.
Overcharged lithium-ion batteries are very dangerous.

There are entire threads here on this forum regarding battery safety, and every vaper should read them.
Only you can decide what level of safety you are comfortable with, but you can't make proper decisions if you aren't aware of the dangers.

If you decide to try the g6 mini tanks...they are a Kanger T4 and are much cheaper here"

Kanger 808D-1T4 Clearomizer

Also, if you try the Triton tanks, they are essentially a Kanger T2...the Triton tanks screw all the way down, while a T2 will leave a small 1/4 inch gap, but they both use the same replacement coils, and they both should work. T2s are available almost anywhere for about $4.50. Replacement coils are about $1.50.

I don't buy much from Halo, I do like their stuff...just the tanks that are over-priced...IMHO

A Halo G6 kit with manual batteries is what got me off cigarettes and I'm still using it with good results. I haven't tried their automatic batteries.

I definitely recommend trying the mini-tanks (aka Kanger T4s) and LR cartomizers in addition to the regular cartos. You might find, as I did, that you like using all three for different purposes.
