Fishee, are you north or south of Denver? My son lives in the Ft. Collins area and I've been out there 3 times. It's such a gorgeous area. We were on our way to Estes Park on my first visit and there was some kind of tower and store by a dam. There was a sign posted: Come see the dam tower by the dam store! I got a picture of that just to prove to everyone here at home I wasn't making it up. But I was blessed to see the birth of my oldest granddaughter. What an honor, privilage and blessing!

On my 2nd visit, my grandson was stillborn and I was there for the funeral, (I pray I never see another infant in a casket as it was awful and not natural) we went to another area, going up a mountain and I wanted to stop at a scenic place to smoke a cigarette. I sat on the concrete retainer wall where the CUTEST little chipmunks were running all around you. They were absolutely precious! I wanted to bring one home, but of course that was out of the question. But they would come right up to you!
:laugh:The one thing I didn't like about Colorado is that you have to constantly hydrate!

The mountains there are beautiful, but stark and impersonal compared to the Smokey Mountains of TN and KY, that envelopes you in the lush of green. I'm hoping to go back to Colorado again this summer. My son and daughter-in-law are getting a divorce, which I hate.......not that she and I were close, but I just hate it for the whole family. I know the heartache and I hate it for all concerned, especially the children.
:( But I have a granddog to meet this trip! :)

I'm as far south west from Denver as one can get before no longer being in Colorado. I'm in a little town called Cortez which is right on the Four Corners. It mountain desert. I'm right between the mountains and the desert. kinda get the best of both worlds. Lots of mountain streams and lakes and cactus and dust and pine trees and lots of variety all depending on which way you decide to point yourself in. I can drive 12 miles in one direction and be surrounded by an army of ravenous chipmunks or drive 12 miles in the other direction and be surrounded by rattle snakes and jackrabbits. Cortez is a little hick town but it a nice town with very little crime rate and pretty much everybody knows everybody. I have a ton of family here and my family farm were I live is down in a little valley just south of city limits and there is a beautiful mesa just out my front door.

You had me at 'mountain streams.' The 2nd time I visited my son, we were coming down one of the mountains and there was a large stream on the right with a huge flat rock. My son helped me get on the rock and that is one of my best memories....water on all sides and it was so peaceful. Of course I smoked a cigarette while I was sitting on it and just enjoyed it so very much.

There's no such thing as a 'hick' town. People like that are like country people here and they are the salt of the earth. I guess most people would call them 'redneck,' but 80% of them are hard working people who would help a neighbor any time, anywhere with just about anything they needed.

So are you a farmer? That's hard work! Down here, the summer heat and humidity will do you in, but I know there isn't that high of humidity in CO during the summer. I'd be interested in your comments under the Daily Word last week about God being like a farmer. Did I equate that to what you do? BTW, you can keep the snakes.....I'd rather be around the ravenous chipmunks!
