Hi all,
So far this is one of my favorites, I just find the finish and body of this juice very attractive. Supposedly it is supposed to be a apple pie with pie crust undertones. I get a bit of that, but the apple is very subdued. There's a bunch of other "stuff" adding to the complexity that I can't seem to pinpoint. I bought a bunch of new flavor concentrates to attempt to mix up a reasonable facsimile because its expensive!. But maybe one of you fine folks has had some luck coming up with a recipe that's close? I believe they use a 50/50 PG/VG base.

Thanks.
Gary

One of the problems with cloning five pawns is that they extract their own flavors in-house. I've never had their juice personally, nor Ahlusions, but companies who mix/extract their own flavorings are a cloner's worst nightmare.

understood. I'll have a few tries for giggles, I'm just a rookie with juice making but getting better.

Thanks. -GT

The notes you're missing is caramel, unsweetened cream and vanilla.

I am slowly gathering supplies, to start doing some mixing myself, and this is also one of my favorites, along with Grandmaster. I think I would be happy with something close to either of these flavors, I was hoping to get something close using TFA flavors, but I know nothing, I have not even tried to do a mix yet.

My son and I have been trying to do both of those, Gambit and Bowdens with very little success. I tried steeping some cinnamon stick for my own cinnamon. The fist time I let the stick steep like two weeks. YUK!! the cinnamon tasted like nothing but tannins. Ruined everything that touched it. I have a cinnamon now that I have done for less than a week much better but still not 5P cinnamon.

Same with Bowden, the peppermint they use doesn't taste like any peppermint we have tried. It's got a biter element to it. All the peppermints I have tried are too candy tasting.

5 Pawns makes their own extractions, so you have to try different kinds of cinnamon, and peppermint leaves to get their flavors, most likely.

I thought I read that they get their flavorings locally, I had never read, that they do their own extractions before. I don't really need a exact clone, I would just like to get close.

I don't think the cinnamon is the key element. I think the trick is that their flavors are so concentrated without picking up any bitterness. I've been playing with 50/50 blends (PG/VG, the same ratio as five pawns), and my problem besides duplicating the flavor profile is getting the intensity of flavor. Once you try to up the flavor intensity, the bitterness kicks in. I just ordered a "bakery, pie crust" type flavoring concentrate with an odd chemical name (it's safe) that I can't remember the name of right now. But I think it might work to help tie things together. I'll keep you posted.

EDIT: The name of the concentrate that adds the bakery/ bread/ pie crust notes is Acetyl Prazine and it's sold by High Desert Vapes and I'm sure others. I'm at work, but I added a drop and it definitely adds a component similar to that found in the finish of Gambit. I will try the blend I've worked up tonight.

Actually got the basic flavor profile pretty close. Next to the real thing, it lacks the intensity of flavor, though. I'll let it steep and maybe give it a warm water bath and see if that helps. I had to sweeten it as well with a few drops of Cotton Candy and a few drops of liquid Sucralose. It actually tastes very close on the tongue....but the vape is a bit more subdued.

Are there any "tricks" to increase flavor intensity? Obviously as we know adding more concentrate just ruins it. And I'm using the most mentioned brand name concentrates on this site.

My tablet must be broken. The recipe, which I'm sure you posted, is not showing up.

Like most impatient rookies w/ DIY's, I tweaked and tweaked so much that I could probably never reproduce it- but I got some new components today that I think will get me closer. I remember apple pie, Acetyl Prazine (just 2 drops/ 10ml), madagascar vanilla (food grade used in baking- just a couple of drops), vanilla ice cream flavor concentrate, caramel, creme brulee (2 drops), cinnamon bun (2-3 drops), sweet cream flavor concentrate. 50/50VG/PG. Can't help much with then exact proportions I used cause of my impulsive tweaking...... I'm sure y'all can do as good or better with a bit of patience. I spoke withy someone who knows the company owner quite well and they extract their flavors in-house, so the intensity is likely always going to be the big problem.

Hey All,
I know this is a few months old, but hopefully some of you Gambit lovers are subscribed.
I can't really contribute as I've never had Gambit, but I found this clone recipe on Reddit and they were all saying that it's remarkably close-- and simple to boot!

Gambit
10% TFA Apple Pie
5% TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
2% TFA Caramel
1% TFA Cotton Candy

This has been my all day for a while now. I'd love to hear how it stacks up to the real deal!

hi hexagondun
Your recipe actually has all the major flavorings as mine. You also supply the percentages, which I didn't 'cause I did sooo much on-the-fly tweaking.... If you've never had Gambit, the flavor of thiis recipe is fairly reminiscent, but not near the intensity. I assume that's due to Five Pawn's proprietary flavors. I will occasionally add around 2% TFA graham cracker or experiment with other "bakery crust" type concentrates to attempt Gambit's interesting finish. ...Also, about 1% TFA Whipped Cream just because Five Pawn's description mentions apple pie with caramel, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
Thanks for the input. GT

Try Capella's peppermint. Not candy tasting, or even sweet. More bitter and peppery than minty.

I tried your recipe but a little different caus I don't have exactly the flavors listed. It's good but lacking if compared directly to Gambit.
I used: 6% TFA Apple
4% TFA Pie Crust
2% TFA Caremal
5% TFA French Vanilla
1% TFA Cotton Candy
Of course it may get better with steeping but I have the patients of a nat.
Also, thanks to another poster named Buffaloguy from another thread I am going to be getting some alcohol based concentrated flavors from Hansen to try. Also going to try crock pot steeping. and leaving out the sweetener (cotton candy).
