Flat top batteries ok for Lava Tube?

If what's troubling you is not knowing whether the positive end of the battery will make contact then relax.. Most LTs I've seen (certainly true with L-Rider models) have the positive contact as a metal protuberance that sticks out quite a bit -- even with a flat top, you're basically guaranteed a good contact.

For most LTs I've seen, you should be fine with flat tops, my flat top IMRs worked fine with L-Rider's first and subsequent versions of the 'tube. Young-June models should be fine too, but I've had very little hands-on experience with them.

With some models, flat top IMRs are pretty much the only batteries that allow you to screw the end cap all the way closed (by the way, don't consider using any other battery type besides IMR especially if you're going with a Young-June PWM LT, you'll want and need the high-drain capability of them vs the "regular" Li-ion rechargeables).
