I bought some flavor apprentice M-type flavor from one stop diy shop and tried it at 5% but it was just too strong and perfumey so I cut it down to even 1 % and still it is very strong. I read a review on perfumers apprentice website of M-Type and one person recommended mixing at 8% for a good tobacco base so I am wondering if I am missing something

Linda I mixed some using 8% with just pg then took that and mixed some at 2% with 60% vg 40% pg it was somewhat better not quite as strong but still perfumey

Hmmmm.....that's interesting. I might pull it back out of my "don't like" stash and play some more. My problem is, I think it stinks and I can't stand to uncap it to experiment with it. I've yet to find a flavor that I like if I can't get past the smell. If something doesn't pass the "nose" test for me, I usually set it aside and move on. That one didn't pass the test but I still mixed some and tried it and the taste was as bad to me as the smell.

I got some after reading the reviews at PA. First thing I did when I got was to try the recipe mentioned in the review (the one that calls for 8%). I thought that seemed really high, but I've read a few times where people say that some tobaccos taste really good to them at higher percentages, and decided to give it a shot... :nah: Tasted really bad IMO. Tons of citrus/floral taste, no tobacco taste - and that was after a week of sitting. After two weeks, it's no better. I haven't even had the urge to try it again at a lower percentage.

I haven't been able to do any tobacco imitating flavors from Flavor Art -- can't get past the horrible smell and taste- perfumey super floral or wet moldy hay smell. As a matter of fact, I have a 10 ml Virginia I am looking to trade and clear coffee-YUCK. I do tolerate the Flavor West Chocolate Tobacco and Vanilla Tobacco fairly well with a little sweetener. My husband likes The Flavor West Cherry Balsam tobacco too with a little sweetener. Flavor West is weaker and won't choke you with a perfume taste and smell. My husband does like the Cowboy and Mellow Tobacco from Flavor Art. I was so trepidatious I never even bought this M Type.

I had the same problems as well , but as soon as I stopped using it as a base , and started using it as an additive , it all fell into place. On its own , it has an almost overpowering Hazelnut / perfumey flavour , which is basically unpleasant. Try 1 drop in a 20ml batch of a rather bland tobacco mix , and it gives it a major lift . You could also try diluting it first with PG or VG , then using 1 or 2 drops in your mix. I just wish all flavour bases were this potent !!

Oh, I'm glad that I didn't read this thread before...

I just on a whim opened my bottle of M-type and took a sniff, and decided on the spot that I must test it!

Anyone tried adding this to their Tobacco concentrate?

Don't have my notes here beside me now, but what I did was mix half and half of the juice I just made based on my own extraction (12mg/ml added nic) and flavourless 14mg/ml PG/VG (roughly 50/50) and then to that I added 3 drops of M-type.

It's steeping now, we'll see.

I really liked the smell of the M-type when I opened it; nutty, peanuts, sweetness, maybe a bit butter or very mild tahini or something (ie nuts+fat)?
Didn't get the perfume-soap at all - but now I'm afraid, because on vaping that horrible horrible smell/taste has surprised me a few times.
