Hey everyone, I've been vaping with the Aspire Atlantis for some time now, and the recurring problem is that no matter how much I prep the coils before use, they seem to taste way too toasty and singed for about the first 10-20 puffs... and after that, the flavor seems to be muted once it rounds out.

Also, I have a persistent cough, and the Atlantis just isn't giving me a relief... something about the vapor seems to be agitating it a bit. Just now, I took a puff and a piece of silica came up into my mouth that was about 5 cm's long, it was like a piece of fishing line almost... really sharp.

I'm just not enjoying the vape most of the time, and I'm thinking about the Subtank Nano. Does anyone have any opinions about the flavor from the pre-built coils? I've seen a few reviews that say the flavor has some bad tastes in it, and I really need a very clean-flavored vape... does anyone taste anything burny or plasticy from these coils?

-Thank You!

*scratches forehead* A system like the atlantis creates a lot of vapor, and you're probably using a higher VG eliquid, and few are doing mouth inhales with them. VG does smooth things out, but it also really can coat up your lungs. My suggestion would be to play with your PG/VG ratio, and/or lower the wattage.

Right then, yeah that isn't silica as you'd normally think of it, those are fiberglass/ceramic fibers. I have a hunch you may have burned through the thin cotton liner if you're literally sucking them up. I'll direct you to a thread here where you can make up your own mind, as in mine they're a morbidly dark joke:

I tried one last week, and the flavor was 100% on-point. There was none of the burny or plasticy taste, but because they are cotton coils, if they aren't saturated or pushed to too high of a wattage (40w+?) they can singe. At the wattage I tried (11-30) it was golden.

Subtank flavor is much much better than the Atlantis.

Perhaps it's the juice I use (60/40 VG/PG) but I find the Atlantis to be much better than the Kanger subtank in terms of flavor with the OCC.

put some juice in the coil, then fill the tank up, let it sit for a bit, then try again, works fine for me

Same here. Key is to make sure the wick is completely saturated and it's showtime for every new OCC I've used.

Right behind you...

Except when it tastes like aged gym sock, which mine did until I re-coiled and re-wicked the OCC heads. Then it tasted maybe a hair better than the Atlantis. But then again, that extra flavor may have just been all the damn juice it oozes constantly getting directly into my mouth.

Not fan based on my purchase and usage.

if you prefer vapor over flavor, atlantis does it better, bigger drip tip, bigger airholes, more airy draw

if you prefer flavor over vapor, subtank does it better, smoother draw, smaller airholes, tighter draw

Wait until you try the Kanger Subtank Mini - Much More Air flow. looks like it has 2x the opening size all the way through.
