So I have been vaping on my 510 for a week now. I have purchased several 10ml bottles trying to find a flavor I like. I am now trying the cream, which for the first few drags was actually kind of nice. I am noticing that whatever flavor I use, when I fill a fresh cartridge the flavor is there (some more then others, but still there) for the first 5 - 6 drags then it goes away and it has the same taste as all the others until I put 1 - 2 drops in. Am I doing something wrong?

I am currently using the PTB mod (shredding the filter into long strips) but it is still the same thing, nice to start (assuming I like the flavor) but the flavor gets dull or non existant very quickly.

(FYI... I have a Janty Stick on the way, will it be any better when it arrives?)

I experience something similar, but I don't know if it's related, since mi roblem doesn't get solved by topping off.

What I've found is that any flavor, regardless of how good it is, loses its affect on me (its pleasantness) after a short time. Some flavors bland out more quickly than others, but they all do it eventually, most within a day or two.

I have to keep switching flavors, or modifying the current one significantly, to keep them tasty.

I don't know about the Janty Stick...

IMO, it sounds like you are experiencing one of the side affects of vaping w/ the 510. The 510 atty runs hotter than similar-sized e-cigs (therefore you get better throat hit and excellent vapor production) but it also burns through juice faster. When you first start vaping a fresh cart, you are getting good juice to the atomizer. However, the atomizer will burn through the juice very quickly.....usually faster than the the cartridge can wick. Therefore, you will quickly notice a loss of flavor. You are doing the correct thing by topping off your cart whenever you notice this happening.

I have heard that about the 510 too. But I think there might be something else going on. When I first started I had a real problem tasting flavors, they were so weak! Then as I vaped for a longer time I begain tasting them! I think you might need to keep at a bit..at least until your tastebuds wake up. It took me 2 weeks.
Good Luck and Welcome to ECF.

Problem with the switching flavor thing is it seems that the atty takes on the flavors used and if I switch back and forth to much then everything tastes like one big bad mix of yuck! I have been working hard to find a flavor I like so I can stock up (in case of ban or before ban depending on your point of view) and I really do not think I have been able to really appreciate any of them because the more flavors I try the less palatable they ALL are!

That being said I think I have settled on Ry4, Apple and Cream, but I have a few more coming to try out! Once I pick a few I think I am going to dedicate an atty & cart to each flavor!

As for dripping I have tried but I do not seem to be getting the same results as others. I have said this in other posts, but no one has ventured to help. I drip one or two drops on the atty and and it take several vapes before I get vapor production or any flavor again. And once vapor production and flavor come back there it isn't any better then using just the cart. So I guess I am dripping wrong because it seems like dripping directly on the atty is supposed increase vapor and flavor (just not for me)

If it is a 510 problem (burning to hot) then maybe I will find the Janty Stick more pleasant.

Every person has their favorite device. You might just find more joy with The Janty! I sure hope so.

I might add that if you drip some glycerin in the cart or the juice, you will get more vapor. make sure it is the one that says USP or foodgrade.

The atty does pick up flavor, but after a few vapes it goes away. Not menthol though..it sticks! I do keep one atty for that. Are you switching up a lot? I did at first but soon learned to stick with two flavors a day. I could really taste them then.

If you switch too much you get flavor fatique. Too little you lose the taste. I use what I call a dark..choco, tobacco, rye, coffee or butterscotch in my NicoStick and use a fruit flavor in the 901. That balances out nicely!

Sounds right to me.

I recommend the "windmill method" also known as the "thermometer method" because it just works.
It may be the stupidest thing anyone ever thought of, but like I said, it just works.

Of course, topping off all the time works too, if you are into that.
I find it too much of a bother when I can just use physics to help the wicking process.

I am another one that it doesn't matter what device, or method, or voltage I try ....I can only taste the flavour for a little while and after that there is no describable flavour at all and all flavours end up exactly the same. The only flavour that I could always 'taste' was menthol and unfortunately I am not that much of a fan of menthol.

I have been mixing my own juice using loranns for the last week, and have found that the flavours seem to burn off first, but the liberty flights I was using last week this didn't happen. I assumed it had something to do with the temperature that the flavorings vaporised at being lower than the vg/pg causing them to burn off first.

I think that some brands of juice and/or some flavors don't keep their flavor and aroma as long as others. That's why I stick with the 3-4 suppliers for e-juice, cause their juice flavor and smell lasts till the end of the bottle.

seminolewind, just wondering who exactly is this 3-4 supplier? Or do you just mean 3 or 4 different suppliers?
Because I'm also having trouble finding a juice that maintains flavor.

So what is the "windmill" method?

Does anybody ever just vape the flavorless stuff or do they just use that for mixing? Is the flavorless stuff cheaper?

Where does one purchase glycerin?

LOL...methinks deadcat2 is referring to shaking/flicking the e-cig to try to get some of the fluid to wick down into the atty. :) Just make sure you've got a good grip on it!

As for the flavorless stuff....haven't really seen many forum members discuss vaping flavorless on a routine basis....the majority want a flavor they like and purchase the flavorless for mixing. The flavorless is not any cheaper or more expensive....just provides a means for DIY mixing.

You can purchase glycerin in any local pharmacy. I purchased the HUMCO brand in Walmart in the skin care aisle. Just make sure the bottle is labeled USP.

I too find it frustrating that the so called 'flavor' of juices is so elusive. Only some Red Bull flavored juices I've tried seemed to hang in past the first few hits, but I've grown tired of the flavor. I've spent a small fortune sampling cappuccino flavored juices because that flavor seems to be the most pleasant for my tastes, but I cannot get more than a tease of the flavor from some I've bought, and nothing at all from most. I'm thinking the problem is with me. Too many years of heavy tobacco smoking has permanently dulled my sensitivity to the subtle flavoring of vaping juices.
