Flavor west mixing ?

I am by far no expert, but have been using a lot flavor west flavors, though I have not tried their apple. I do have their caramel candy and flavoring at 20 is going to give it a chemical taste. the FW stuff I have is way too strong. I'm steeping a creamy vanilla hazelnut that has 7 total ingredients and my mix is only at 18%. Like many of the posts on this forum will tell you start with less and and add. I can tell you I did not listen to that and have chucked a few bottles of juice. Hope this helps. Good luck.

With my FW flavors i didnt get anything till i reached about 15% for a single flavor. But i know what you mean about needing a little bit of some. The tidewater only needs 8%.

I'm stumped still tho..... I have good stand alone flavors at 18% but to combine them at a lower % i dont think ill find my flavors still there.???

How do i make flavor west mixes.... ? Im finding most of my flavors are good at around 18%....... so if i want a carmel apple What should i do?

36% total flavoring? I was told no more than 20% flavor

( darn double apple only tastes good with 1-2% sour)

If you like apple at 18% and caramel at 18% and apple needs 2% Sour, then here's your recipe:
9% Apple
9% Caramel
1% Sour

It's the same as if you mixed a bottle of 18% Apple with 2% sour, and then a separate bottle of 18% caramel, then combined those two bottles (which is another method you could use).

Exactly! Have you made a tried caramel at 18% ? I haven't used that, but FW salted caramel is pretty strong (and I like a strong flavor - I go 15-20% on a lot of them). You might want to try test batches at 10-15% before you commit.

Theres alot of people that use some flavorings WAY below what i can taste. LOL

So if i do 9% on both wouldnt that just make it really weak? Please forgive my sillyness.... But the way im thinking is if its only good at 18% then why would making a batch at 1/2 that streanth be any good to me?

If i make 2 18% batches and combine them that would make the total flavor % higher wouldn't it?

No, it would not. Combine 18% batches of any number of flavors, and it's still 18% total.
A spoon full of sugar in a cup of tea, and a spoonful of sugar in another cup of tea, if poured together - doesn't get any sweeter.

If you make a 10ml bottle with 18% flavoring, it would be 1.8ml of flavor. If you make that same 10ml bottle with 2 flavors, each at 9%. You would use .9ml of each flavor for a total of 1.8ml of flavor. Your still using the same total amount of flavoring. Another way to think of it is if you wanted to make a six flavor mix that each on its own you mix at 18%. If you added 18% of each, the flavoring would be 108% which would be impossible. Don't know any other way to explain it to you.

Cheers,
Steve

The reason people say 20% is you don't want your flavor percentage to high or you will be vaping mostly concentrate. The idea is to flavor juice rather than water it down with flavorings. If you go to high it will get nasty and while you might think a lower percentage is bad a short steep will often help. Once the flavorings fully saturate within the carrier it will often get better. This is why i mix and taste a little on my finger as i go to get an idea of what to expect. If you taste it's more true to what it is unlike vaping and especially if your taste buds are shot.

If you still smoke, recently quit or vape lots of cinnamon or menthol your taste buds are probably fried. When you need excessive flavoring it's usually not because that much flavor is actually needed. I had a hard time mixing early on since everything was weak under 10% yet anything over that usually made my juice bad. So mix at say 5% per flavor and let it sit overnight. Then add what you feel is missing a little bit at a time and give it an hour or two. Once it's almost there let it sit overnight and then try it before adding more. Most of the companies that produce top notch juice mix, steep then start a new batch and do it again and again until perfected. Sometimes a flavor that would be used at 10% by itself is great at 3% along side other flavors.
