how much will flavoring and sweeteners lower the total mg level
i have 24mg 50/50 unflavored base
im thinking at 20% flavoring it will decrease it 20 % uhhh right..?

That is correct, but try thinking in portions, it's easier.

If you have 24mg/ml and add 20% of flavour, then four fifths (80%) is 24mg base. 80% of 24mg leaves you with 19.2 mg/ml nicotine.

thats abought what i thought.. i have a juice cal but i cant seem to use it right ..i think cuz i have a pre mix base of 50/50 and i think the flavorings are not pg/vg......but im not sure if the sweetner has pg in it its real viscus like water i got it from mt baker.in the ingredients
it looks like it has pg/vg in it but like i said its runny like water..any way the e juice me up calculator has 2 lines in the target pg/vg lines i ignor it cuz mt mix is already 50/50......im still waiting till i get my flavorings to actually mix something

Oh, wrong calculator! That sounds like one intended for cutting high nic base down to usable levels. It wants to know all the details including the base mix and nicotine levels, and probably also the flavouring qty and base mix. These calculators normally need a target nic level and will tell you how much PG and VG to achieve the required nic level, after you tell it what percentages of flavourings you want.

You are doing the quick DIY method with nic base at close to the final requirement (I have a bottle of the same on the way). That calculator is probably unsuitable, except in the broadest possible sense. If you punch in 19.2mg/ml as the final requirement it would tell you what you already know, except it will still get an error because more than like the flavours are PG based from your discription. You will NOT be able to achieve 19.2mg/ml at 50/50 PG/VG.

Forget about that calculator, use the calculator between your ears.

If you compensate for the 20% flavourings probably in PG by adding 20% VG things go further astray - your nic would be 14.4 mg/ml (60% of 24 mg/ml) That's fine if that is what you want, but somehow I think it is not.

Look, don't sweat the small stuff. Are you really concerned if the PG/VG ratio is actually 60/40 instead of 50/50? Actually, I'd say rethink the 50/50 anyway. I made a 60/40 up the other night and while it did produce clouds of vapour and was still runny enough to wick in the CE4, taking two or three toots in a row left a very distinct VG oily feeling in my mouth. I seriously don't think I would go to 50/50 in any case, unless I really had to say for a very minor PG intolerence problem or something.

Which sweetener is it by the way? Mt Baker cotton candy is probably 10% Ethyl Maltol stock, which is also exactly the same as the standard sweetener formula: 15-20% flavour gives "cotton candy", 3-8% gives "sweeter than it was before" and around 1% gives "takes the edge off it"
The rest of the formula for cotton candy/sweetener is usually 80% PG with maybe 10% alcohol. Yes, it's runny as water.

1.9% = 19mg/ml nicotine. Just wanted to post in case a newbie was confused so they don't think they are making 19mg/ml nicotine strength and actually have 190mg/ml which is approximately 19%.

Yep, serious error that one and I missed it by reading what I thought it should be, not what it actually said. Cope, could you edit and change 19% to 19 mg/ml please?

Hey Hoos, enjoyed your blog posts and DIY ideas. Looking forward to the next installments.
