Flavoring Question

Dear ECF Community,

I am new to vaping but already due some of the crazy prices for premixed flavors, I have researching DIY whilst learning about vaping itself.

I read DIY guides and began ordering supplies.. I got my 100mg/ 120ml nicotine, a bottle of PG, a bottle of VG. But in a bonehead move, I ordered a bunch of regular flavors (I mean premixed ejuices without nicotine) which at the time I thought was what I needed. I then realized I need actual concentrates which I will now order.

My question, however is can I still use the premixed 0 nicotine flavor? I vape currently at 6 to 8 mg nicotine levels. I do have the ejuice me up calculator... Any other advice?, such as something normally found in most homes that I can use as a concentrate?

Thank you everyone..as always, you guys are great, in my short period having stopped smoking cigarettes, I couldn't have done it without this forum, everyone's posts, information, encouragement and stories have been invaluable to me....

Best Wishes...

You can mix Nicotine solution into the 0mg juice you bought by mistake and use that until you get your concentrates. You may decrease flavor slightly but it should still be very vapeable.

For instance if you have 10ml of 0mg e-juice add .6mg that's (point 6) of the 100mg nic solution to the 10mg of e-juice shake well and you now have a 6mg ejuice. Add .8mg and you now have an 8mg e-juice.

Flavor loss should be little to none.

I don't recommend doing that. Just order some stuff from a trusted source.
perfumersapprentice. com has gotten most of my business.

And yes, you can add nic to that 0mg juice you bought. Add the nic same as if you were mixing your own juice.
Careful with that 100mg/ml nic you got. Safety first, always.

I agree. Most off the shelf supermarket conentrates or flavoring found around the house are not concentrated enough to be used for vaping. Buy from a vendor specializing in flavoring specificly for vaping.

I highly recommend inawera or hangsen flavors from bullcity.

Dannyv45 and Wruff thank you so much, because of your help now at least the premix won't go to waste until I get concentrates. I am going to order from both sites you guys mentioned since its my first time, that way I can try both and see what is closer to my taste. Much obliged to both of you for your great advice.

And I got gloves and everything for the safety issue. Everyone on the forum has been so great about mentioning the dangers of handling nicotine, it is now entrenched in me to be safe when mixing.

Dear Dannyv45,

You mentioned,

"For instance if you have 10ml of 0mg e-juice add .6mg that's (point 6) of the 100mg nic solution to the 10mg of e-juice shake well and you now have a 6mg ejuice. Add .8mg and you now have an 8mg e-juice."

Just to be sure, can you elaborate on that a bit, how do I measure out point 6 mg from the bottle... So let's say I will use the 10ml 0mg e-juice. In order to get an end result of 6mg ejuice, This is from the website (myfreedomsmokes) I ordered the Nicotine from:

Nicotine is mg/ml ; so if you ordered 24mg nicotine, that is 24mg per mil.
If you ordered 100mg, that would be 100mg per mil.

Since I ordered the 125 ml 100mg bottle, am I correct that to reach the 6mg ejuice, I would measure out .6ml (point 6 ml) using my syringe and mixing that with the 10ml of premixed ejuice?

Sorry the mg/ml stuff throws me off so I want to be sure. Thanks a million....
Best Wishes....

.6ml should give you 6 mg in a 10ml base

You may want to additionally tweak the PG/ VG to get your desired
vaping ratio i.e., 80 % VG / 20% PG etc.,

The calculator available here would help you out
(check mg/ml in nicotine unit and make sure nicotine strength is 100)

Thank you spalife...much appreciated. I did have the ejuice me up calculator and it did give me the .6ml value as well. But as you mentioned, I will have to adjust the PG/VG values as the "throat hit" was not same as premixes I had bought previously. I will tinker in small batches to get to the right flavor.

Thanks again...Best Wishes...

What is the PG/VG in your 100mg nicbase?

Knowing that will help you tinker in adding additional pg or vg as needed
to get back the TH you had before in your premixes

Hey Spalife,

When I ordered, they gave me the option of picking PG/VG levels. Based on posts I read from the ECF community as well as notes from the calculator's guide, I chose 100% PG..

And thanks to your help, and others here, first batch came out a lot better than I thought (despite the PG/VG levels not being exactly what I wanted....hehe.. Then again, this time was just adding nicotine, I am ordering concentrates tonight and can't wait to see what those full DIY batches taste like... Besides saving money, this really is a whole lotta fun thinking of flavors... :)

Thank you again...
Best Wishes

You will be adding so little volume of nic to achieve the 6mg you want that I don't think you will notice the PG/VG ratio being that far off.

I mix all my flavors at 6 nic. my wife vapes 12. just adding the extra nic using 100MG/ML base really does not change things all that much in a 30ml bottle of juice. JMHO

I just purchased my first nic base today. Got 75PG/25VG 100% nic. Got 2 liters. This is the ratio I vape the most so I went a way I felt like I could safely dyi if I need to. I plan to separate it into 10ml bottles for the freezer. I have downloaded the ejuicemeup calculator. I hope I didn't mess up LOL I thought this would be a good way to learn. I thought I could measure out the necessary nic solution and add flavoring. I mean I know I need to dilute the nic to 6mg but now after reading here I'm not sure I got the right stuff.

Hello GlacierBabe,

The learning is part of the fun. But I doubt you messed things up and even if you did, you can always adjust in the next batch. I was in the same situation as you.. I was just scared of the nicotine because its safety concerns and as you can tell from my posts above, I was trying to ask in a way, that it could make the process idiot proof for me... lol.

But people here are so freakin amazing.... I have only been a member for a few days, but I really love this community, everyone is so quick to help, it feels like a tight knit Vapor family.

From your post (and I am sorry if I am getting this wrong), it seem you just want to do it in a way where your vg/pg is already set in the nicotine and you just dilute it then, add flavoring and get your mix. I am too much of a newbie so maybe others here can help, but the ejuicemeup calculator for one thing is a great tool and it really helps getting all the measuring correct. From what I've read in the forums, adding pg/vg and flavoring to nicotine is what dilutes it. Your situation poses another yet another unorthodox scenario (not the usual DIY process). Hopefully someone can shed some light as I am sure there are others who wish to do the DIY the same way as you.

Best Wishes...

What I think you might have is 100 mg. nic in a 75PG/25VG carrier. If so, ok your all right.

This phrase worries me. Yes you can put nic in the freezer to keep it fresh. But 10 ml. size? Could be done that way if you do not use much nic per mix sessions (6 mg.). Most folks mix often and have 30-60 ml available at room temperature.

I thought I could measure out the necessary nic solution and add flavoring. I mean I know I need to dilute the nic to 6 mg but now after reading here I'm not sure I got the right stuff.
If you have what I think you have, you should be ok provided you use a e-liquid calculator.

Might benefit from watching youtube mixings to get a feel of jargon and how to handle a mix.

I'm thinking the calculator will tell me what I need to do LOL I think it lets you put in your base mix and then tell it want you want to do. I was afraid to order the 100% nic base. Maybe after I get more experienced I will do it. :)

Yes that is what I have. 100% nic in a 75PG/25VG base. I vape 6 nic so I thought it would be better to have smaller bottles so air wouldn't get to the part I was not using. I am a chain vaper and I have no idea what size I would making at a time. If I need to put them in 30ml I can do that. I generally buy my premix juice in 30ml except for my ADV which I get in 120ml. But it takes me a couple of weeks to go through that.

I just ordered a dyi kit from MSF. They have everything in one place for the starting dyi mixer. I figured I could start with that and add individual items as I learn and see what I need and prefer. I was able to get the 17% discount with their coupon. I also bought 1 liter of VG and PG.

So what milligram nic base did you buy? I am a little confused with what you purchased. 100% nicotine is dangerous if not handled right pretty quickly just from fumes. 100mg nicotine solution is to be treated with respect but not nearly as dangerous. You have to take care to clean spills as they are dangerous to little ones and pets. Wash spills off immediately and don't drink it from the bottle. Understanding dilution is pretty important so be careful and ask if you are confused. We wouldn't want to see you or anyone else get hurt.

That is why I didn't buy the pure 100% nic. I wanted to be sure I knew how to handle it. Here is what I got Sale - UnFlavored Nicotine E-Liquid Base - 1-Liter / 100mg in 75PG/25VG base

EDIT: It says the coupon won't apply to sale items but it did apply to this.
