thewomenfolk - Don't vape Vanilla, it's not good for you. Neither are the cinnamon flavors. They'll do you harm.

I found this reading the stickies(yeah, some noobs read them):D

I love both of these flavors, and I'd like more info on the subject. I'm a bit of a chemist, so get as technical as you want.

I'll hit this cinnamon/menthol blend while I wait.:vapor:

Isn't cinnamon/peppermint one of the greatest things? It's fits perfectly with your morning coffee :D I have read about the harmful affects of cinnamon - don't like vanilla..at all - so will be interesting to see what new/interesting info pops up in your thread. Hot Cinnamon is my daily vape. I'm not far from hitting 4 months of vaping. I have around 4 fav daily juices and cinnamon is a part of all of them save one. Taste buds all in order unless it's something really subtle - but I'm not much into subtle vaping - to begin with. Personally, I'm not noticing any negative effects at all - lots of positive ones..like deep breaths - working out/dropping weight - really happy. Since you have a chemist background - extra interesting! Vape On!

Good question. I've also done some reading and decided not to use cinnamon but I don't think it's something I would miss. I have a few different vanillas that I haven't really done much with yet, but lots of people seem to use them and recommend them. I'm also a little wary of using any creamy or buttery flavours, but I would still try them eventually as the manufacturers are becoming more aware of the harmful chemicals. I prefer my juices to have a subtle flavour anyway, so a little goes a long way. The great thing about DIY is that you can control what and how much you use.

Yeah, that statement is a bit broad, would be good to know why "it's not good for you"?

The funny thing is, I'm a person that avoids artificial flavouring in drinks and food, but will throw caution to the wind when it comes to e-cigs! Suppose because I was subjected to the whims of big tobacco for so long and think it can't be any worse, but who knows...

Thanks Temporal, your tip sent me looking in the right direction.

There are oils, and there are oils, and there are more oils.......

Commonly, we call liquids that are not water soluble... oil

Straight hydrocarbons (gasoline, mineral oil, wax, hydraulic fluid) will coat your lungs working surfaces if you inhale a mist/vapor. This is very bad.

Fat (animal/vegatable oil) is a glycerine-fatty acid ester. It is the fatty acid part of the molecule that seems to be the center of lipid pneumonia. I'm guessing that some of the oils in cinnamon fall into this category.

Most of the flavors you guys are vaping are oily esters... just not of the fatty acid type. I know Methyl Salicilate (wintergreen) off the top of my head, but I'm sure there is a flavor expert here who knows this stuff in more detail than I.

Same here, I'm a food snob. I just don't see a practical to use a natural flavors in a PV unit.

There is a supplier of natural flavours for e-cigs somewhere, but I don't think they ship here, are more expensive than others and have read that you have to use more of it. So I don't think it's worth worrying about too much either.

Well, I did some more research..and for like 4 hours I thought I would try to switch to peppermint...which 4.25 hours later was kickin peppermint and 5.25 hours later was Hot Cinnamon!! Got in a 20 min workout on the eliptical....lungs seems to be ok.....I've only been vaping nearly 4 months - so I can tell I was a smoker for sure. Maybe I'm like others and can just handle the kick of the Hot Cinnamon - but I'm also thinking maybe I need to give a nod to getting away from this as my all day vape or at least blending it in much smaller quantities with peppermint or something. Would hate to have the success of giving up the cigs only to do other damage. Not the smartest thing I could do. :)

cinnamon oil is different from water soluble cin flavoring... imo it's safer if not completely safe; i dont know for sure.
The oil is known to be the one that cause superficial burning etc... Hot CIn Candy types have this.
Snickerdoodle, my favorite has no oil according to 3 vendors that i buy it from (Vapor Bomb, Velvet Vapors, Sweet-vapes) .... I vape it every day.

There is a well respected chemist here at ECF by the ECF Name of Kurt. He has posted much info on the possible dangers of vaping cinnamon. I encourage you to search for his posts as he gives alot of good information on the subject. If it were not so late and I were not so tired I would find the posts for you and post a link here. I will try to remember to find them in the morning if nobody has found them yet. :)

Some vanillas are fine. The custard flavoring ingredient diacetyl is the issue in some vanillas and buttery or fatty flavors.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-please-keep-just-listing-supplier-names.html

I have to take issue with this "list". Example, I know for a fact some of these vendors use custard notes..because their suppliers don't disclose diacetyl, should not excuse the fact that it's there. Read up, be aware, get to know what it takes to make flavors! Do not blindly trust...
