My personal experience with Lemon concentrates (Flavor Art, Inawera, and The Flavor Apprentice) is that they are a concentrate that is extremely dependent on aromatics (compared to many other concentrated flavors). One way you can get an idea of how much of a role the aromatics have to play with any given flavor is to pinch your nose closed and then take a
vape (continuing to hold your nose shut through the inhale and exhale of the vape). The more a concentrate depends on the aromatic components for the taste the less you will taste while holding your nose. With Lemon you will find that the flavor all but completely disappear.
Lemon is also a flavor that, for me at least, fades rather quickly. I have a couple of recipes that I mix from time to time, and I have to be careful to not mix up too much at once, or any left after a week and a half to two weeks, will be much less flavorful than the "younger" portion.
I also find that Lemon is extremely sensitive to heat. Those aromatics will evaporate even more quickly when exposed to microwaves, hot water baths, and cap-off "breathing". If you are needing that type of treatment for other flavors used in the recipe; add the Lemon
after you have applied such treatments (this goes for long rests/steeps too).
I personally prefer Lemon as a true shake-n-vape. The fresher the better.
