I had some old WL nicotine from late 2014 that hadn't been stored properly. I just recently started diy and decided to try it first before throwing away. Long story short, some mixes are fine to vape, but some are extremely harsh ( almost unvapeable ). Is this bad nicotine which is being masked by some of the flavors ( in the mixes that are good ), or is the culprit some of the flavors in the mixes that are harsh and the nicotine is blameless ? The mixes that are good have one thing in common, they have at least 2-3 % of cream ( FA Vienna and FA Fresh Cream ). Is it possible that these creams are masking the harshness of my bad nicotine !?

Thoughts anyone ?

I'd try it unflavored, then go from there.
Oh snap, such a simple solution. Can't believe it didn't occur to me. Thank You !

If the nicotine turns out to be fine, then i'm in trouble. I have to try all the flavors in the bad mixes to find out which flavor(s) i'm sensitive to. I checked the TFA website and found out Citrus Punch and Kentucky Bourbon both have ethanol ( ethyl alcohol ) in them, and thought that may be the problem, but can't be sure because other flavor companies don't publish ingredient lists. I even suspected some new build i threw in my rta's. Too many damn variables !

If you steep the flavors containing alcohol with the cap off for a couple of days giving them a shake now and then, the alcohol should evaporate off.

Just to confirm, you mean the actual flavors, not the mix using that flavor, right ? Would that not affect the potency of the flavor ? Don't the volatile compounds other than ethanol evaporate as well ?

Also, besides TFA, are there any other vendors who divulge the makeup of their flavors ? I know FA says that there is no alcohol in their flavors, but is it possible that there is alcohol in some of the extracts they use ? They use mostly flavor molecules, but some extracts as well.

No, not the flavor it self, it needs the alcohol as a carrier. After you mix a juice open top steep it for a couple of days. I don't think you will lose to much other stuff although I suppose you might lose a little bit. It should be mostly the alcohol evaporating off.

Don't really know what the vendors do. If they say no alcohol then I would expect no alcohol. It would be a huge liability thing if their statements were false
