If you make your own flavors like my custards contain none that crap educate yourself

It seems that you're saying you're able to make your own custard flavors - without synthetic chemicals (i.e. "none of that crap"). We'd love to learn how you do it - please share and educate us! :)

frankly... it seems to be a bit fear mongering.

........Any normal, half way intelligent, person would take that to mean those not carrying that warning don't contain it..

Patkin, as you may or may not know there are still flavoring companies used by vapers who don't disclose.

I have no idea why knowledge of certain ingredients in flavorings is fear mongering unless "disclosure" is fear-mongering ;)

Many of us who will not vape diacetyls, acetoins, acetyl proprianol and yes, there are still a lot of flavorings out there with D, A A's and an extensive list is fine with some of us.

What that does in addition, which a list of flavoring that do NOT have them, is hold some of their feet to the fire, they *might* soon realize they need to test and disclose, as FA and TPA/TFA does.

IF, and I said IF, diacetyls are dangerous, it's the kind of dangerous where the damage to lung tissue is irreversible. I find that word to carry a huge wallop. :)

I have found it possible to make plenty of delicious ejuices w/out using anything with D, A or A......so not having them in my house means I won't be making eliquid I feel may not be *entirely* safe to inhale. Any lists or inventory I can get I am happy to have.

Ok, I have what may be a stupid question regarding diacetyl. While reading the hundreds of pages of various DIY flavoring posts, in at least one of them someone said that the amount of diacetyl in analogs is on the order of 200% higher than what would be contained in, say, a custard flavoring. So, IF that is accurate... If smoking 22 analogs a day for 32 years did not give me popcorn lung (or any trouble at all, never even experienced smoker's hack) then why should I be concerned about the existence of diacetyl in e-liquid? Seriously, not trying to be a smartass. I just do not understand the level of concern that is evident here (on ECF).

So, what am I missing? And I assume I AM missing something, since y'all as a group of folks seem smart and very well informed. School me, plz!

Good question! Post #316 in this thread discusses that very issue.

I didn't quit smoking only to get popcorn lung from vaping. Just because I chose to poison myself for 20 years by smoking doesn't mean I should continue to kill myself by vaping a hazardous substance...

I agree, but I approach this purely as a consumer who simply wishes to know, when I purchase something, what I am purchasing.

I know some in this topic will get into debating whether it's safe or not safe, and that really isn't the issue for me.

I feel I have a right to know, if I ask that I not receive flavoring or ejuice with diacetyls, acetoins, or acetyl proprionol, that when I send the $$$ I should be getting what I asked for.

It's simply about disclosure, not about good, bad, whatever. ;) If I can't get that information then it's NO SALE.

Commercial juice makers shouldn't use it in any of their juices, period, not just disclose which flavors have it. My vendors state absolutely none of their juices contain diacetyl. If they are willing to use a known dangerous substance in any of their juices, they lose all credibility with me...

There are worse things in life than not being able to vape custard...

The thing is, that people often overlook, especially those who smoked for however long without long-term adverse side-effects, if you did smoke and are lucky enough to leave the habit without scars, then you should realize that many did not. Some people smoke their entire lives without developing lung cancer, COPD, chronic bronchitis, decreased stamina, etc. while others never smoke and develop lung cancer. It's a risk to smoke for us all, and it's a risk to vape ingredients that may be dangerous as well. You don't know if you will develop symptoms from diacetyls. You could be like the lucky smokers who never had a worry from it, or you could be like the popcorn plant employees and develop the popcorn lung.

I think it's people who didn't experience bad health effects from smoking that are the least concerned about this topic because they don't truthfully realize from a personal standpoint just how dangerous inhaling chemicals can be.

And it can be as bad cancer sticks, for some people. Just like some people smoke and never develop problems, some people can be exposed to chemicals and not be affected whereas another one can. You really never know. It's easy to feel you are invincible until it happens to you, or someone you love.

This industry is in it's infancy still, we are all learning together and growing together and deciding what we will and will not accept. Non-disclosure is not acceptable, ever. To me, that just implies there is something to hide and there is a lack of integrity. That in itself turns me off from a vendor.

Only weeks after stopping smoking, I realised that Vanilla pre-filled cartridges were causing me to have breathing problems, so I stopped using them.
Not long after, it became obvious that I was also getting problems with PG, so I had to completely re-think and buy new equipment and find VG e-liquid.

Since then, I've gradually found that some flavours, and in some cases, some specific brands of some flavours, do give me breathing problems. Sometimes, it was quite severe and I needed to take a theophylline tablet to enable proper breathing.
They are some vanilla/custards, strawberry, blackberry, peach and pineapple, and perhaps certain caramel ones.

I'm still in the process of identifying any which give me problems. There are some that I can use without any problem, and others that I need to be careful with by only using them for very short periods. Some though, I would not use again as the onset of problems happened quite quickly.
Whether it's down to any degree of diacetyl or acetoin content etc., I don't know.

Peach doesn't contain diacetyl (at least most brands I know), don't vape pineapple. You may just need to DIY your own flavoring, and add less. Also, vg can cause some lung congestion, you may not be vapable.
There may have been something else in with the peach - it was a creamy/silky one, so it's 'still under review' :)

I'm absolutely fine with a lot of other ones that are VG - there's two companies here that will make their liquid for me in 100% VG apart from any in the flavouring, and I'm OK with that.

you should check out flavor art. they not only tell you what one are bad for you but they go even further and redesign for the intention of vaping them instead of just giving you a list of flavors you will never vape. thier clearstream program is the best there is. if you want a vendor who as you put cares about the consumer. I would copy and paste some stuff but there are pages and pages of reading here and all over their website ClearStream by FlavourArt | ClearStream by FlavourArt plus the flavors blow TFA out of the water
"Caring" about vapers is what impressed me.

TPA/TFA has shown that in spades.

I like that I can order flavorings with no AA's and Ds.

I agree that would be awesome I would like 100%. how do you make your own flavors without extracting sugars and what not also ? or do have a mad scientist lab of chemicals lol. I dont dont have any type of PG allergy so I cant speak for those who do but I have never gone over 8% on a recipe anyways with FA. so it would be close. you could even do single flavors at 2%. that would make it 98% vg lol. I vape 90vg and 10pg. or 80/20 because 100% is usually to thick
