The first juice I tried was RY4 and absolutely loved it! (I had been puffing on pre-filled flavor cartridges and wanted to venture out from there). It was my go to liquid for the first week after I quit smoking. 2 1/2 weeks after my last cig and I can barely puff on it. Interestingly enough while I enjoyed fruity flavors in the first few days after quitting, I could only take a puff from them once an hour at most. This morning all 3 of my big clearos have fruit flavors in them.

I have heard this is all pretty normal for someone who just quit smoking tobacco cigs, my question is about how long does it take for your tastebuds/flavor preferences to settle down? I now have 2 relatively big bottles of RY4 and who knows if I will re-develop a taste for that particular liquid in the future. I've set them aside just in case that happens. Luckily that was my first biggish order other than the 5ml sample bottles that I've been using to try new flavors so not much $$ wasted.

I smoked 1-2 packs/day for the better part of 20 years (my smoking habit largely depended on my stress level). I had quit for a few years when I had my 2 kiddos but picked it up again when my *baby* (who is now almost 17 lol) was about a year so this is the longest I've gone without a cig for almost 16 years.

Don't get my wrong it's great. Flavors are becoming sharper and things taste better, just wondering how long I should wait before ordering anything bigger than 5ml sample sized liquids. In short, when is my tongue gonna settle down .

LOL and welcome to ecf.

Yes, they will settle down. However, I don't think anyone can say where you will end up. The flavors I like when first starting are probably still in my refridge. LOL. I re-visit them on occasion, and some are still tasting good to me. ejuice can have a shelf life of two years or longer, so don't stress about them getting old. You have plenty of time to decide. I keep mine in the refridge and have no problems.
If you find you really can't like them anymore, ecf has a sale/trade section and a pif(pay-it-forward) section also.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

:)

When I first started my tastes seemed to change every few weeks. I could taste better/ sharper. At first I only wanted tobacco flavors. After about a week, I couldn't stand them anymore so I went to my local shop and tested a ton of juices and realized that I like the fruitier and sweet flavors. I NEVER thought I would like those (I HATED flavored cigarettes!)
I think that when you quit smoking that it takes a good 6mos to a year (or more!) to get your taste buds back to normal. However, even though your taste buds are coming back, you should still like the same types of flavors, they will just taste better to you. At first I think we all want tobacco flavors to mimic our cigarettes. When we get over that phase, a lot of things taste better/ different because our taste buds are springing back to life. So, I think it is pretty safe to say that you will probably still like the flavors you are using now for a while. Other flavors might starting tasting good to you also.
Good luck and Welcome!!!!

I always reset my taste buds with dill pickles

you can always modify your ry4 by adding an appropriate flavor concentrate (order from RTS Vapes or wizard labs) to fruit it up

Get some spare 5ml bottles (or keep your empties) and blend the ry4 with one of your stonger tasting fruit flavors to stretch it

Or just get some inexpensive starter kits - spare bottles and convert smoking friends, family and complete strangers to vaping

I try to keep an inexpensive ego and clearo setup from fasttech on me at all times when I am out and about and give them to anyone who approaches me with questions about ecigs and seem serious about switching

Interestly enough I went out to dinner with my best friend who smokes. We get together every couple of weeks, but this time I was armed with simple disposable clearos that I found to fit on my 808 baby battery. I also brought all the flavors I had accumulated over the past couple of weeks. After trying a couple of fruit flavors she zeroed in on the RY4. Why? Because it had tobacco in it lol. So hopefully *fingers crossed* I might have someone I can unload them on. :)

The same thing happened to me. Tobacco flavor really tastes different when you can taste it! I don't think I'll ever use up the tobacco menthol juice I bought...
