Ever have a problem securing your roll of kanthal wire when you've snipped off a bit to make a coil? It gets all kinked up and funky, or you waste precious time and attention retightening the whole mess. If you use a piece of tape to capture the free end, the tape becomes demonically possessed and sticks to itself and everything else, or won't come off short of picking at it.

Enter the common (these days) everyday velcro cable tie. The right width to fit snugly over the wire on your kanthal spool, the right length to overlap and stay with itself, right out of the package. I found these at the Tractor Supply in their cable tie area, but have also seen them in a rainbow color package at walmart (in the sewing section next to the elastic and velcro stuff). Runs around 5-6 bucks for a package of 6.

Here ya go...took a pic of mine all tucked in after implementing the concept this afternoon.

Thank God! I have that problem every time! It's funny I just got two new atomizers in the mail today, of course fly away Kanthal! I just figured for what it costs, life's to short! I snipped off what sprang off in a mess and tossed it. Hate still wasting so much wire. My next trip to Walmart or Tractor Supply, this tops the list. Thanks so much! :)

Another brilliant solution I've seen is from Super_X_Drifter, who cuts up an eraser into a little block that fits in the spool, you just cram it in over the top of the loose wire end. Very slick. I didn't have an eraser around but I had some chunks of silicone so I cut them into little blocks and copied his idea.

^^^^^^ this

I was putting slits around the edge, but I begrudge any kinks in the kanthal, so pursued a retasking mission until I found the velcro ties.

By the way, picked up some more at walmart tonight; the multicolored ones in the sewing section were 3 bucks a pack so 50 cents apiece, lots cheaper than the camo ones from tractor supply =)
