hi there,

I leave for my hols on 7th March 2011 from Gatwick Airport and am in two minds whether I should vape in the airport and on the aeroplane?

I am slightly anxious as to what my response should be in the event I am confronted by officials or general public?

Can anyone advise if they have vaped in any UK airports, in any UK aeroplanes and whats the best course of action?

Also, would you carry all your juices through customs i.e put it in a small bag etc or put some in your checked in luggage? I am thinking of putting my spare battery with some juice in my checked in baggage incase I get stopped either in UK or Egypt, what do you recommend?

Thanks for your help in advance

Cheers

I have vaped in airports and planes - and it's great! :smokie:

Maybe hold the vapour in a bit so it's not that noticeable if you're worried, or don't want to attract attention...

Make sure you put plenty of liquid (and spare batts/atoms etc) in both your hand bag (or pocket) and your luggage, because airports can lose luggage (it's happened to me), and your liquid is the most important element of it of course! :vapor:

If they do notice it and ask you, just tell them it's perfectly legal (in Egypt too), show them how the device works and offer them a puff! :)

whats the easiest response when asked by customs screeners what your ecig is?
Nicotine inhalator, personal vapouriser, e-cig, whatever comes to mind. They probably won't notice anyway (if you hold it in, and don't breathe it out too much). They should be well aware of what it is as some airlines actually offer e-cigs for sale to customers. Other airlines say they don't allow it. So I'm not exactly sure how you find that out (phone the airline I guess). And if they don't allow it, then frequent visits to the toilets and/or craftier puffs, if you're worried about them seeing you...

whats the easiest way to ask a stewardess if you can vape on the flight?
Personally I wouldn't ask. But others might disagree with me on this.
I've vaped in bars, restaurants, supermarkets, cinemas, and hospitals.
I have never asked for permission.

whats the easiest way to explain what your ecig is?
An electronic device for inhaling nicotine that produces (visible) vapour.
It produces a fine mist, not smoke.

:)~Enjoy~:)

I've never travelled with e cigs so it's interesting to see.

I know that Ryanair actually sell electronic cigarettes on their flights.

I am not sure about esmoking on an aeroplane though if it were me I don't think I'd have the nerve to do it. Imagine someone sitting behind you and seeing the vapour they might think you were smoking?

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Going out I will put my kit and spare battery with 30ml of juice in a zipbag so will carry it in hand luggage
The remaining stuff so my attys, charger and extra bottles of juice will go in my checked in luggage.
Is that OK??
Personally I would put at least 30ml and equivalent full e-cig kit in both hand and large luggage.
But that's me; best be safe than sorry...

Just cup your e-cig in your hand, hold in the vapour and then breathe out slowly, and even the person next to you probably won't notice...
(I pretty much always use low resistance as well btw)

Even in the cinema (which I love smoking in), I hold it in because I don't want to distract from people's enjoyment of the film...
(Although in the tree burning scene in Avatar, I blew great plumes out to add to the 3-D effect! ..lol.. :2cool:)

Update:

Monarch Airlines do not allow ecigarettes to be used on the flight BUT if you get a window seat you can stealth vape all the way Smiley

Gatwick Airport was really straight forward, nobody batted an eyelid, the xray screener did not say a thing. Once I cleared customs it was a case of vape anywhere and everywhere, it was so good, it was my first ever flight whereby I did not feel anxious due to not smoking etc....this ecig thing I thought it fantastic in more then one way...

Taba Airport in Egypt was fine also, being in the sticks with like 4 flights a week only arriving there and taking off from there I thought there would be trouble but they were fine. The screener there asked me if it was a cigarette I said yes and that was it..

On both inward and outward journeys I had some e juice and spare attys and carts in my checked in luggage and walked through customs with both batteries and 2 bottles of 5ml juice

It was so straight forward and simple, no stress no worries and stealth vaping on the plane is the future...
