I got my Robbot V4 today. The mechanics for the LC was hard to turn and had no play ( the authentic has a lot - between 510 base and air ring ). It came very clean, no smell, but I decided to completely disassemble it and clean it. When I wanted to reassemble it I had problems installing the upper section (8). Either I could install it, but could not screw the deck on, or I could not turn it. It seemed that the upper section didn`t sit flush in the routing, so I checked the routing, but couldn't see anything. I took a screw driver and scratched in all corners of the routing and that solved the problem. I haven`t found a chip or dirt, but sth must have been there. I assembled everything - the mechanics was very smooth now and still without play. Built it at 1.05 Ohm and enjoyed it. The taste is as good as my authentic and it performs like the authentic. But I changed sth.
The delivered spring is not bad - harder than the authentic - but when you use the LC ( it hasen`t been designed to adjust the liquid flow, only on/off , otherwise you get jumping ohms ) and come back to the vaping position, it`s nearly impossible to get the same reading on the ohm meter ( sometimes 0.1-0.2 ohm difference ) , so I put an authentic spring in and got a constant reading ( +/- 0.01 Ohms ). The Robbot spring is not silver plated and doesn`t have a flat section at the ends.
Btw. having the V4 on an Ohm meter and turning the LC, you can get values from no connection to the right value. This is not because of the spring ( plus pole ) only, it`s because of the threading ( negative pole ). So if you want to adjust the liquid flow, the V4 goes into buck mode.
I found 2 differences between Robbot and SM. The air screw is fully drilled through ( good against gurgling ) and the liquid holes in the deck have a wider countersink ( better for the wick ). There are other cosmetic differences, like the logo, the depth of the engraving... but it looks great.
I got what I hoped to get - a very very good clone - I would say on the par with the authentic ( I don`t mind the spring, the original isn`t perfect too, I discussed that with Eugen already - maybe they will make a longer and harder one for less volt drop or sub ohm users )
