In terms of overall feel they are equal .. the light Tan one is nicer in the sense that is was factory sealed, and unused :p The brown one is a demo sample so its got nicks, dings, and looks like it may be been taken apart at some point .. but that is ok since it was a freebie for me to compare to the factory sealed Tan version. :)

Maybe I missed it, but does it have a floating 510? I'm interested in dropping a DNA40 in this...looks like the onboard buttons might just line up on it.

Yep- I was logged in. And thanks, I'll email Doris about the Rcomen mod.

I'm getting an Evolv dna 40 board to go into a dead DNA Zero V2 clone. I also have one that works and I use it. A lot, actually. Really like the heft and feel of it. And I love the looks. Not at all cheesy or flimsy feeling like some box mods. So with the DNA 40 board transplant I expect the Zero will be my ideal mod and I'll only have about $65.00 in it.
I'm following a guy at the other place that's gonna transplant a Cloupor mini with an SX350 board. I like those little buggers, especially with the silicone skins. If it works out for him, I might have to work something out...

Cool! I also have an Evolv DNA 25 board coming, it's going into my Cloupor Mini. Eventually. I've had the Mini going on 3 months now and it has really grown on me- hefty but small, and so far it has not missed a beat. In fact it's hard to justify swapping the board out, considering how well it works.

No it doesn't, although the construction lead me to believe that it might be a floating pin. My comment was saying that the manufacturer spec'd said it was a "spring loaded floating pin" ..its definitely not spring loaded, and doesn't appear to float, unless its stuck somehow, which can happen with a floating pin.

But I have never seen a floating pin used on a regulated device before ..

Just catching up...

Since building my DNA40 mods in a FT mini and Cloupor enclosures with VT 510 connectors, I haven't used anything else and have little interest in new mods. I use my VS rDNA40 every once in a while but the FT mini is my current go-to mod. There's no mod that gets it 100% right for me but the VS is very, very close. No delay and spring loaded 510 are must haves for me.

The Evolv boards are awesome and I can't vape on a clone board, Cloupor Mini included. I can't stand the delay to fire from sleep. The Cloupor mini has the shortest delay and you can't beat it for the price. The Evolv boards do give a slightly smoother vape though.

The main reason I started building my mods is because I wanted specific features I couldn't get from anything on the market. I've spent less than $100 on each DNA40 mod I built and they all have what I want and work great. The Cloupor enclosures are a bit bulky and I only use them at home. I'm really tempted to get a VS DNA40 as they're only slightly bigger than their DNA30 (I have 2) and love their size and feel the best. I might sell off the DNA30's to fund a DNA40.

Say it isn't so! You are parting with the VS DNA30s?

I already had 2nd thoughts about selling the blue one but I really don't use it. It's a great size which is why I just ordered the DNA40. It's a hair bigger than the DNA30 but with TP and 2500mah 18650 hardwired. I love the size of my rDNA40 but the size of the DNA30/40 is easier to carry around.

I hear you. I still use my VS DNA30 as my stealth vape at work, but other than that it doesn't get much vape time at home. I am actually really pleased with my SVD 2.0s while I'm at my desk at home. I really have grown accustomed to step down so I can see why you prefer the DNA40.

The reason I love TP is that I don't get burnt hits ever. And my wicks last much longer. If I want to switch flavors, I vape until I get very little vapor and fill the tank with a new flavor. It's also safer. Step down (buck) doesn't really bother me since I vape right around 4.2v or more on most of my builds. I don't have a problem with the DNA30 but I do get burnt wicks on occasion when my tank doesn't feed the wick properly for whatever reason. I have 1 KFL+ v2 with a kanthal build on my Cloupor Mini and the rest (5 KF v4) with Ni200 builds. I also have 2 drippers with Ni200 builds and 1 with kanthal. I mostly use the drippers to test new flavors and now I don't have to rewick.

I really love the size of the VS DNA30 so I'll probably love the DNA40. I still have 1 DNA40 small screen and have been debating whether or not to put it in another Cloupor box (I have 2 more) or get a Zero to house it or put it in my Cloupor Mini.

You have been busy! I still have one small screen DNA40 going into a wood mod that is nearly ready for assembly. I have a DNA40 large screen intended to go in a design in metal from Shapeways. The metal mod is giving me nothing but trouble since the tolerances of the design are problematic given that Shapeways allows for a 5% variance in stainless prints. I will be doing some sanding and I had to order new buttons tonight. I have a DNA25 and another large screen DNA40 on order...I think the DNA25 is going into a printed plastic mod I've designed, but the new DNA40 is still looking for a home.
