I don't own a cherry bomber but I've heard about this problem that they have. Although I don't understand how it will short out, since with a mechanical mod and an atomizer the pin in the 510 is the positive and the case is the negative, how would it short out if the it touches the casing?
It doesn't short. It just causes an autofire situation because it bypasses the switch.

Its rather large and hefty, aesthetically the design of the mod is very cool, but there are fitment issues because it was cast.

If perfect alignment and fit are your thing, this mod is not for you.
But if you get it for the "cool" factor and looks, its a winner :)

Few examples, notice the gap at the top of the door.

the door seems misaligned somehow, here is the alignment compared to the top part:

with the alignment off it leaves a rather large lip on one side of the mod:

compared to the other side:

another minor fitment issue, the top doesnt line up with the sides, leaving a gap:

I thought I got a clone based on how things fit together, totally not worth the $250 I spent on it :(

Can you take it apart and sand/file to fit better?

I could try to remove the lip, but the mod is coated to that color. I'm afraid if I started removing the extra lip material it would discolor the mod at that location. It seems more of a casting issue, there are three pieces that make up the body of the mod and it looks like it was molded like that. If this is indeed the case it's no wonder they didn't show pictures of that side with the lip and gaps on their website.

They won't swap it for you, Drifter? I know, risky, huh? If you get one with that part right, it might be off somewhere worse. So bummed for you. You've been waiting for this one for awhile too... But if anybody can fix it, it's you!
Still jealous. :p

It's Saturday and there is nobody to call on the weekend, but believe me, on Monday contacting them will be a priority. I did post these pics on their release thread so maybe I might get some feedback from them before then.

I can't really "fix" these issues, it just seems that when they grinded the cast parts after the casting process that they went a little overboard in removing the excess material in areas. I don't thing that trying to realign the 3 parts by loosening the screws and reassembling it will do the trick :(

I tried pausing the video they had on their site several times to see if that mod showcased had that lip on it and from what I was able to deduce, theirs don't on the video. Each piece is gonna be different because of the handwork involved dealing with cast parts, so it might just be the luck of the draw getting one that's aligned decently.

Hopefully they will do a swap with me and sent one with a little better alignment. I can overlook the gaps but that lip on the one door side is driving my OCD crazy :(

The alignment is pretty bad, especially for a $250 device. I wouldn't expect that from a $50 mod. I'm usually not one to return stuff and usually try to fix it myself but I would definitely return that if it was mine.

It is a cool looking mod... from 5 feet away :p

I agree, when I buy clones I expect to have to fix something on them (which I do), but for a $250 authentic I expected better, hopefully they will do the right thing otherwise I'm asking for a refund.

That's the nature of the beast getting first runs of anything, authentic or clones and a risk I was willing to take because I really do like the aesthetics of this piece.
